PART FOUR

Fade in to Casper High School.

Cut to the classroom where the kids are taking the CAT. “Danny” is in the front row in between Star and an African American girl with her long hair in an up-do. Sam is sitting behind “Danny”. Tucker is behind Star. They are all seen from the back. Lancer is at his desk in the front, there’s some writing on the board, the clock reads 10:10, there’s a coat on the coat rack by the door.

Inconsistent. The previous seating arrangement had an Asian behind “Danny”, Sam was next to “Danny”, Tucker was behind Sam, and Star was in the next row. I think they moved over the break.

Close-up on “Danny” shifting his eyes. A red-haired boy is far behind him, with the red-haired boy in the letter jacket behind Tucker, and the African-American girl with the tiny pigtail up top in front of him. “Danny” looks down with a smirk.

Once again, I may point out that the boy in the letter jacket was behind “Danny” in the back row, and the girl in front of Tucker was two seats in front of the letter jacket boy and two seats behind “Danny”.

Ah, gotta love those consistency errors.

Cut to “Danny”’s hands in his desk as he pulls out the test answers, they are numbered and have blank white boxes by them. Pan up as “Danny” fills in four bubbles on completely different parts of his paper.

Cut to “Danny”, filling in the bubbles. He stops as he looks up with some concern.

Cut to “Danny” in the foreground looking at the door. Jasmine walks up to look through the window with an irked gaze. Zoom in on her.

Cut to “Danny” at his seat. Sam is behind him, and a girl in orange is behind her. Tucker is near “Danny”. “Danny” looks to the left and then back to the right as an invisible Dark Danny comes out from his back and dives into the floor.

Cut to Jasmine outside the door. She takes her backpack off and fishes through it as an invisible Dark Danny with a spectral tail appears behind her.

Cut to Jasmine and Dark Danny. Jasmine lifts up the Fenton Peeler and looks at it intently. Dark Danny puts a hand on her shoulder, she shouts out as she vibrates and glows all green.

Cut to the floor. Jasmine lands unconsciously on it, smoldering with the Fenton Peeler in hand.

Cut to Dark Danny hovering over the sleeping Jasmine. He manifests his legs and bends over to take Jasmine by the legs, walking backwards to drag her away.

Doesn’t Casper High run ghost drills? If so, it should be on Ghost Alert, even on Saturday. Still, Dark Danny can’t kill Jasmine if he wants to recreate the accident. Where he leaves her is left to the imagination.

Cut to the real Danny in the Ghost Zone.

DANNY: Well, that’s Vlad for ya!

Cut to Danny from the back, hovering in front of a giant purple football.

DANNY: Subtle as a flying mallet.

Just as another note, where did Human Vlad get the courage to put a football in front of his portal, or even keep his portal open anyway?

Most likely he had no way to close it or something. Or maybe it’s an open invitation to Dark Danny to finish what he started. With Maddie, Danny, and Jack gone, Vlad’s pretty much lost his reasons for doing anything to stop him from finishing him off. Grim, but true.

Danny pushes the football away, revealing a portal.

Cut to Danny. He arches his eyebrows and takes flight.

Cut to inside a cave. There is a refrigerator and a stove, with a golden picture frame above it. There’s some electrical equipment, a gold pillar, a chandelier with cobwebs all over, and a framed Packers jersey with the number 70 on it. Pan left. A tape recoding device is seen by the open portal. Danny flies through it and lands on his feet. Zoom out to reveal a man with a long, white beard and a torn, black suit in a chair. He drums his fingers on the arm rest. He must be Future Vlad. Danny turns toward him.

VLAD: Come to kick a defenseless old man while he’s down?

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Defenseless? *Old*?

Vlad’s not that old. If I generalize based on my own parents, he should be in his mid-late fifties, counting he was in his forties in MI. Dennis’s own father is 50 and her mother is turning 49.

Cut to Vlad sitting in his chair to a console with many computer monitors. The chair has a yellow decal in the back that shows a V within a pair of hexagonal brackets. Danny walks up. Vlad turns his chair to face him.

Cut to Vlad’s bare, unshaven feet. The bottom of his pants is tattered and a knee is exposed. Pan up to his face. One of his sleeves is scuffed, the bags under his eyes thicker than normal, his hair and beard longer and no longer bound in the ponytail.

DANNY: (offscreen) Man,--

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: --what happened to you?

Cut to Vlad.

VLAD: I could ask you the very same question, (raises an eyebrow) my boy.

Cut to Vlad in his chair with a crudely carved wooden walking stick. Danny looks at him, seen from the back.

VLAD: Although perhaps, (stands up) I should ask what hasn’t happened to you…

Cut to Vlad. He lowers his eyebrows.

VLAD: Yet.

The screen fades to black as Vlad goes off in his unrequested recollection as a newspaper spins onto the screen.

VLAD: If it’s any consolation, they went so quickly, they felt no pain.

The newspaper stops. The newspaper is the Amity Park Angle. The headline reads “Nasty Accidents for Fentons and Friends” with a picture of the crater where the Nasty Burger was. Below reads “The Sole Survivor” with a picture of a wide-eyed Danny Fenton, and next to that a photo of Jack, Maddie with her hood up, Jasmine, Danny with his arms crossed, Sam with her hands on her hips looking at Tucker with his hands up high. The picture is captioned “Fentons and Friends” Zoom in to Danny’s section on the paper.

VLAD: (voiceover) Unfortunately, the same could not be said of you, Daniel.

Fade to Vlad’s Wisconsin mansion. A limo drives up to the door.

VLAD: With nowhere else to go, you came to *me*.

The limo drives away. Fade to a sad-looking Danny with three brown bags on one side, two black cases, a brown one, and a rolled-up bag on the other. He has a duffel bag strapped over his shoulder.

VLAD: (voiceover) The only person left on the planet who--

Zoom in, Danny blinks.

VLAD: (voiceover) --could possibly hope to understand your situation.

Fade to Danny. A hand gently covers his shoulder. He looks down at it. Zoom out to reveal that the hand belonged to Vlad.

Cut to Vlad. He smiles a half-evil, half-empathetic smile.

Cut to Danny. He lifts up a picture frame and looks down at it, crestfallen.

Cut to the photograph. It’s the same photograph as in the newspaper, everyone in full color standing in front of FentonWorks. Sunlight glares off it.

VLAD: (voiceover) All you wanted--

Zoom in and rotate.

VLAD: (voiceover) --was to make the hurt go away.

Cut to Vlad. He looks sad, too.

Glad to see Vlad has enough feeling left in him to help Danny, even though the only people he’d care about in that photo are Jack and Maddie, provided that eps like SW, MOAT and KS didn’t happen yet. And he’d only feel sad for Maddie anyway. Of course, this means Danny’s very much hurt and Vlad’s hurt as well, so it’s obvious that a young man like Danny just can’t take that kind of loss without wanting pain reliever.

And yet the second ending of the TUE game tries having us believe Vlad would willingly help Dark Danny. *shakes head* I’m hoping Dark Danny must’ve tricked Vlad into believing Maddie would be saved, otherwise there’s no excuse. “He said he wanted a little insurance in case the explosion never happened” plllleaaaassssse.

Fade to Vlad with a surgical mask, hairnet and apron in a lab. Something beeps. Zoom out. Danny is lying asleep at an angle on an examination table with anesthetic on his mouth and nose. His chest and legs are strapped in. The tank of gas is on the examination table. A green monitor beeps with his heart rate. Vlad is seen in the far background with two large, metal gloves on.

VLAD: (voiceover) I honored your wishes.

Cut to the part of the table covering Danny’s legs. Pan up to Danny’s upper body, a mask over his mouth and nose being fed gas from a green tube coming from it to a tank attached to the table. His heart rate monitor is beeping and pulsing. He sleeps peacefully.

Cut to a dark part of the lab. Vlad stands up on the scene holding the metal gloves high, they glow with a pink aura.

VLAD: (voiceover) No more--

Cut to the gloves, glowing pink.

VLAD: (voiceover) --painful human emotions to drag you down.

The background becomes a turquoise action background as it zooms out and claws come out from the square fingers, outstretching the palm and glowing all pink.

Cut to Danny, asleep. The gloves plunge into his body intangibly.

Close-up on Vlad. He narrows his eyes with sad seriousness and turns, perspiring with effort.

Cut to Vlad with his hands in Danny’s intestinal area. After some tugging, he steps back and pulls out Danny Phantom and looks up at it. The ghost is ethereal and blue wisps are all over it.

Close-up on Vlad. He widens his eyes.

Cut to Vlad, looking up and holding his arms up high. Pan up to Danny with his spectral tail and his fists clenched, looking angry with the gloves inside him.

Close-up on Danny. His eyes open. Zoom out. He’s absolutely irate and takes the gloves in his hands, throwing them away. He grunts in pain as two green gashes are on his chest.

Cut to the lab. Vlad is thrown against a wall and the gloves fly off his hands. He grunts in pain and falls to the ground, his body on the floor and his head on the wall.

Cut to Vlad, his surgical mask is loosened. He looks up and opens his eyes in fear.

Cut to Danny’s cascading spectral tail. The gloves with claws fall the ground. Pan up to show Danny with his hands blazing green.

Cut to Vlad on the ground. Danny’s dark shadow descends on his body. The eyes are not in shadow for a bizarre reason.

VLAD: (voiceover) Sadly, that freed you up--

Cut to Danny with a malicious smile.

VLAD: (voiceover) --to rip the ghost--

Danny holds up the clawed gloves, blazing with green energy.

VLAD: --out of me.

Cut to Vlad on the ground. Danny grabs him with the gloves and pulls him toward himself.

Cut to Danny from the back, holding Vlad high in the air with the glowing gloves. He tears Vlad apart, his human side on the left and his blue, unconscious ghostly side on the right.

Cut to Vlad landing against a wall near a counter. When he falls to the floor, he looks up in terror.

Cut to Vlad’s ghostly blue half landing against another wall. When it lands, it resumes full color but doesn’t wake up.

Cut to Danny floating in the air with the gloves. They fall off him as he turns intangible, flying forward and down.

Cut to Vlad’s unconscious ghost half on the floor. It flinches as Danny plunges himself into Vlad’s chest.

Cut to Vlad’s face. His eyes open, but glowing green instead of their usual red.

VLAD: (voiceover) And when my evil ghost--

The screen flashes black and white.

VLAD: (voiceover) --half mixed with--

Fade to a green, glowing Danny over Vlad. Danny resumes color as Vlad fades away.

VLAD: (voiceover) –yours? And my evil side--

Cut to Danny.

VLAD: (voiceover) --overwhelmed you.

Danny’s eyes open, but they are a solid green. Red, vein-like cracks form on his face.

Cut to Danny on a turquoise action background, his eyes a solid green; red veins on his face. He screams as he puts his hands on his head, his white hair starts flaming, and his skin grows paler and bluish. He clenches his shaking fists and thrusts his chest forward.

Cut to Danny hovering over the lab. He is still screaming. Rings of green expand from his waist and dissipate. Pan down to Vlad, cowering and panicking.

Fade out of the flashback to Danny.

DANNY: What happened to my human self?

Cut to Vlad. He closes his eyes and looks down to the floor, lifting a palm as if to stop the painful memory. Pan down to the floor where Vlad’s shadow is cast, and his hand is seen holding his walking stick.

The image fades away to Dark Danny’s shadow with fists clenched, and eyes are not in shadow.

VLAD: (voiceover) Some things, my boy,--

Pan left to show Danny in a fetal position, shivering in the corner as Dark Danny’s shadow descends on him. Danny’s clothes are ripped and his jeans are charred.

Cut to Dark Danny, who is fourteen. He looks like normal Danny, but his face is blue, his pupils are red, his ears are pointed, and his white hair is flaming. He puts down his arms.

VLAD: (voiceover) --are better left unsaid.

Dark Danny comes close to the camera with blood-red eyes and a serpent’s tongue flicking out.

Sigh. Looks like that when Dark Danny did his merger, Vlad’s half overwhelmed Danny but Danny took control of will power. And the Vlad that was left behind is merely a shell of himself, carrying all those painful, human emotions. So, if Danny wanted to “make the hurt go away”, was he supposed to excise himself from his human body and live as a ghost, leaving his body to waste?

I think this is the result of really bad planning on the parts of two half-ghosts in a great deal of emotional pain, Danny more so.

Cut to over Vlad’s mansion, all in red and purple. A huge, green explosion engulfs it with debris flying up everywhere and Dark Danny exits in a pink action background, his spectral tail and hands streamlined behind him with an evil fanged grin, laughing.

Cut to Dark Danny. Zoom in on his eye.

Fade to the blue eye of Vlad as the flashback ends. Zoom out to reveal Vlad, looking down.

VLAD: If any good came out of this,--

Vlad turns to the left to a photograph of him, Maddie and Jack in their college years, reaching out to take it.

VLAD: --it’s that ten years without ghost powers gave me the chance to see--

Cut to the photo. Vlad, before his accident is smiling with short black hair and a Packers-colored shirt. Maddie is seen with a purple strap shirt and large, purple hoop earrings. Jack is in his orange spandex with a mullet.

VLAD: --what a fool I’d (runs his thumb down over the frame) been.

This little photograph is fairly close to me, because Dennis never liked it when fans repeatedly abused Vlad as a character because of his “arch-enemy” status. To counter that out of spite, she went and wrote “The Science Guys” as a light story about Jack and Vlad’s time together before the ProtoPortal existed and they were still friends, and how they met Maddie, who is somewhat symbolically standing between Vlad and Jack. It’s all because I wanted to explore the all-human side of Vlad, not his ghostly component.

Cut to Vlad, looking sad as he holds up the frame. Danny is standing far behind him. Yellow flags are strung over him, some with green marks with G’s.

DANNY: Maybe that’s all anybody needs.

Close-up on Danny, who narrows his eyes and looks off to the left.

DANNY: A second chance. (blinks and looks forward) You still have those Ghost Gauntlets?

And where did Danny hear the term “Ghost Gauntlets” in Vlad’s monologue? Reminds me of BR when Danny asked the Dairy King to help him fight “Plasmius”, but never heard that term previously until the last fight scene.

There’s still no explanation for either of these dialogue errors, although in the case of the Ghost Gauntlets it’s possible Danny just came up with the term for the item used on the spot. He didn’t know what else to call them and simply named them as such. It’s also possible that we, the audience, didn’t see all of the flashback and were only shown a brief bit of what Vlad actually said. …Heh, I’m just making excuses for the staff now, aren’t I? Oh well.

Cut to Vlad. His eyes widen with hope. Zoom in.

Cut to a desk with a red apple and a blue mug with the word “RAV” on it, holding pencils. A hand slaps the test booklet reading “Career Aptitude Test” on it.

Cut to “Danny”, smiling an evil smile. Pan out to see his hand on the booklet, with the apple and the blue mug reading “RAVENS” full of pencils. “Danny” puts his hand on his hip.

Lancer has a Ravens mug? Then why isn’t it red? The school colors just so happen to be white and red, not blue.

I’d just like to comment that it amazes me how often I’ve run across a phrase involving Dark Danny putting a hand on his hip in this episode. I think Dark Danny puts his hands on his hips more times in this episode than Danny is grabbed by the neck this whole entire series. O_o;;

Cut to the booklet with the apple and the mug. Pan up to Lancer, writing on the chalkboard behind him reads “C.A.T. Test Today.

LANCER: Finished so soon, Mr. Fenton?

Cut to “Danny”. Several teens look at him from behind him.

DARK DANNY: (Danny’s voice) Is that a--

“Danny” slams his hands on the desk.

DARK DANNY: (Danny’s voice) --problem?

For you, yes. You don’t have a track record for being bright, so we’d expect you to take a little longer. Personally, Dennis has a long tack record of being some sort of genius and usually being the first done on tests, and there were two instances recently where a teacher took my test and realized I was right and their key was wrong. Meep!

Cut to Lancer at his desk.

LANCER: (looking off to the right) How should *I* know?

Cut to Lancer, looking forward.

LANCER: I don’t have all the answers.

Cut to “Danny” from side view, gazing intently. Lancer leans in to meet him.

LANCER: Do you?

“Danny” smirks an evil smirk. He gets off the table offscreen.

Cut to “Danny”, standing up straight. He turns to the right and walks away.

Cut to the door. “Danny” walks up to it. He turns his head over his shoulder and narrows his eyelids, then turns and exits.

Cut to Lancer, sitting in his chair. There’s a cellphone on his desk with his mug of pencils, and a potted plant on his filing cabinet by the window. He sighs and puts his hand on his cell, picking it up.

Cut to the phone. Lancer dials as green numbers appear on the screen. 555-1221. Then it displays the address “FENTONWORKS” underneath while ringing.

A typical 555 number. It’s not real, so don’t even try. But it does make for good trivia, if only we knew their area code.

Cut to Lancer raising the phone to his ear. Mumbles come from it.

LANCER: Mrs. Fenton? (walks up from his chair) It’s Mr. Lancer.

Cut to outside the window. Lancer walks up to it from inside. There is an orange shrub underneath it.

LANCER: Could you meet me at the Nasty Burger at say, 5:00?

Cut to Lancer looking out the window at many orange trees. “Danny” walks past.

LANCER: And…bring Danny.

Fade to a cave. Above it is a sign which reads “Welcome to Wisconsin” in big, yellow letters. Zoom in.

VLAD: (offscreen) So you’re saying there’s--

Cut to Danny standing in front of a stump. There’s some Packers gear on the wall, a jersey with a 70 and a football.

VLAD: (offscreen) --a medallion lodged within you,--

Pan right to Vlad, looking down.

VLAD: --keeping you rooted in this--

He lifts up and puts on his gauntlets.

VLAD: --time period?

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Yes!

He looks down at his chest and places a palm on it.

DANNY: And I can’t reach it.

Cut to a console next to some Packers gear. Danny walks in from the left, pointing. Vlad comes in with the gauntlets on the right, barefoot.

DANNY: But I’m guessing if you could reach into me and rip out my humanity,--

Cut to Danny, narrowing his eyes.

DANNY: --which, by the way, sounds totally gross,--

He blinks and opens his eyes wider.

DANNY: --you can get the medallion out, too!

He didn’t rip out your humanity; he ripped you out FROM your humanity. But yes, it does sound totally gross. Why didn’t the other Danny from that time stream think the surgery would be gross?

Cut to Danny, standing in front of and under more Packers gear.

DANNY: Then I’ll pop back--

Vlad’s gauntlets descend into the foreground, sparkling.

DANNY: --to my present like Tucker and Sam did.

Cut to Vlad with the gauntlets. He raises them and they glow green.

VLAD: Or I could just destroy you now and prevent this future.

He giggles as the claws extend from the fingers. Close-up on Vlad, his eyes are bloodshot.

VLAD: Didn’t think of that, did you?

Cut to Vlad, getting up with the glowing gauntlets. He reaches an arm behind him and tears green through the scene. Danny screams as the screen zooms in between the tears to outside the cave with the welcome sign. A large, green burst of light comes out of the cave.

Sweep the shot horizontally to the sign of the Nasty Burger. Zoom out to reveal the whole establishment, with the blown-away side and construction warnings with tape reading “CAUTION”. Lancer is standing in front of the door with his briefcase.

Cut to Lancer. His eyes narrow as headlights descend upon him.

Cut to Lancer in front of the Nasty Burger doors shined out by headlights. The Fenton RV drives up, and pops with a pneumatic hiss.

Cut to outside the RV. Through the window, we can see Jack at the wheel with Maddie in the passenger seat. “Danny” is standing behind them with an evil smirk.

MADDIE: Mr. Lancer sounded (she looks to Danny) urgent on the phone. Danny,--

Close-up on Maddie.

MADDIE: --is something wrong?

Close-up on “Danny”.

DARK DANNY: (Danny’s voice) Not yet.

Cut to the two tanks of Nasty Sauce with an exposed wall behind them. The heat coil is still in contact with the tank. A beeping is heard. Zoom in on the temperature gauge.

Fade to the gauge. The arrow is in the middle of the yellow region, and starts to move a little bit more upwards.

Cut to Lancer in the headlights with his briefcase. Jack, Maddie, and “Danny” walk up.

LANCER: Mr. and Mrs. Fenton? Daniel?

Did Lancer just call Danny “Daniel” rather than Mr. Fenton? Of course, Mr. Fenton is already present, Jack, so he’d have to change for reduced confusion. Also, Lancer did refer to Danny as “Danny” on the phone. Meep!

Cut to the whole Nasty Burger. Lancer stands in front of the door with the headlights in his face and the Fentons nearby.

LANCER: *This* is the Nasty Burger. When people fail, (extends his arms out) *this* is where they end up.

Cut to Lancer in the headlights.

LANCER: Whether they fail because they don’t study, or because they--

Lancer holds up the answer booklet for the CAT.

LANCER: --cheated.

Cut to Jack and Maddie. They gasp.

Cut to Jack.

JACK: Danny,--

He turns to the right and arches an eyebrow.

JACK: --is this true?

Cut to Maddie.

MADDIE: Did you *cheat*?

Cut to Lancer looking at Jack, Maddie, and “Danny”, seen from the back.

SAM: (offscreen) You have to get out of here!

“Danny”, Maddie and Jack turn around in shock. Lancer looks incredulous.

Cut to Tucker and Sam, running up.

Cut to an aerial shot of Lancer, “Danny”, Maddie, and Jack. Tucker and Sam run onscreen.

TUCKER: The Nasty Burger’s gonna blow!

Cut to Tucker.

TUCKER: And we’re--

He spreads his arms and all his fingers out.

TUCKER: --*three feet* from it!

You kids willingly came into a dangerous, unstable area so you can warn everyone to clear out? Obviously sometime offscreen, they got wise to Dark Danny’s lie. More credits, leaving Tucker with 5 and 3 for Sam.

Well…since Lancer has the Answer Booklet, I’m gonna guess Dark Danny purposely left the answers behind to be found, giving Lancer the proof he needs to show Jack and Maddie, but at the same time he unknowingly gave Tucker and Sam something to be suspicious of. Not to mention his behavior leaving the classroom was very un-Danny-like. Add on the strange scene from earlier after “Danny” came back, and they probably knew something was extremely wrong.

Or “Danny” left behind a note of some kind. Dark Danny needed all the people to be there, not just Lancer, Maddie, and Jack. Regardless, Tucker and Sam showed up, and walked directly into Dark Danny’s trap.

Close-up on Lancer in a red, action background.

LANCER: South Beach Diet, people!

Cut to the Nasty Burger. Lancer is in front of the door, Maddie and “Danny” on the left, Jack in front and Tucker and Sam on the right.

LANCER: What’s going on here?!

Cut to the Nasty Burger, far away. A metal boot steps into the shot.

JASMINE: I’ll tell you what’s going on!

Cut to a pink action background. Jack and Maddie turn and look stunned. Lancer blinks and is also stunned.

Cut to “Danny” on a pink action background. He turns around with unwelcome surprise.

Cut to Jasmine, wearing the Fenton Peeler.

JASMINE: Or better yet,--

Zoom out to reveal Jasmine’s whole body covered with the Peeler’s armor, holding out the gun.

JASMINE: --show you.

Cut to a turquoise action background. Jasmine comes up and charges her laser. Pan left to the laser, firing a green energy beam.

Cut to “Danny” with green light reflecting on him. The laser completely engulfs his body, and “Danny” leans back in pain with his hands and fingers up. He lets out a grunt in Dark Danny’s voice.)

Cut to “Danny”. As the laser runs past him, cracks form in his skin.

Cut to “Danny”, shaking his fists as the laser runs past him. More cracks form. The Danny Fenton form peels off like a second skin, revealing Dark Danny underneath. He falls to the ground.

Cut to Jack, looking down, stunned. Maddie walks up to look with him.

Cut to Tucker and Sam, looking down, also stunned. Lancer walks up next to them.

Cut to Dark Danny on the ground. Zoom out to reveal he’s on his hands and knees with his peeled skin beneath him, and he’s smoldering.

Cut to Jasmine in the peeler.

JASMINE: That’s--

She retracts her gun, it powers down.

JASMINE: --not Danny!

Now, in Dennis’s view, Jasmine doesn’t enjoy ghost hunting. She only steps up to the plate when her family’s in danger. And she’s not doing a too shabby job of it because she fights to protect her family rather than beat up the bad guy.

Cut to Jack. His eyebrows lower as he tenses up.

Cut to Maddie. She clenches a fist and tenses up as well.

Cut to Dark Danny on the ground with Jasmine looking down upon him in the Peeler. Jack and Maddie approach from the sides. They pull out guns and point them down at Dark Danny.

Cut to Jack in a pink action background, holding the gun.

JACK: (alarmed) Where is he?!

The business end of the gun glows as it charges up.

JACK: Where’s our son?!

Cut to Maddie, charging her gun.

MADDIE: What have you done to our boy?!

Cut to Dark Danny with guns pointed at him. Zoom in as he laughs evilly. He turns to look up at the camera.

DARK DANNY: I *am* your boy!

Cut to a green sky. Maddie pops up, confused.

MADDIE: *What*?!

Cut to Lancer and Sam, aghast. Tucker pops up onscreen.

Cut to Dark Danny being held at gunpoint by Jack and Maddie. Pan up as he flies in the air with his legs together and his arms out in front of a swirling cloud-vortex.

DARK DANNY: What kind of parents are you, anyway?

Cut to Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: The world’s leading ghost experts and you can’t figure out that your own *son* was--

Cut to Jack and Maddie on the ground, aghast and pointing guns the air with Dark Danny’s shadow upon them, the eyes still not in shadow.

DARK DANNY: --half ghost!

Jack turns to Maddie.

JACK: For the record,--

Maddie turns to him.

JACK: --I blame you.

Jack turns back to Dark Danny, scared out of his wits.

Cut to Dark Danny in the air with his legs out. Maddie and Jack are pointing guns at him.

DARK DANNY: Hello? Danny *Fenton*?

Cut to Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: Danny *Phantom*?

Close-up on Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: Ever notice the similarity?

Pan right as Dark Danny looks to Jasmine in the Peeler armor.

Cut to Jasmine in the armor, her lips and teeth vibrating.

DARK DANNY: *Jazz* did.

Cut to Tucker and Sam with Lancer behind them. Tucker and Sam exchange looks.

TUCKER and SAM: She did?

Cut to Jack.

JACK: Liar!

Zoom out to show Dark Danny looking down in the foreground. Jack holds up his gun.

JACK: Don’t move!

Cut to Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: Actually, (looks down with a stern expression) nobody’s going anywhere.

Cut to Dark Danny, looking down and smiling.

DARK DANNY: Not until it’s time for you to be--

Dark Danny raises a hand over his alternate shoulder, it glows green.

DARK DANNY: --blown everywhere.

Dark Danny swoops his hand and bits of ectoplasm fly down in a wave.

Cut to Lancer, Maddie, Jack, Tucker and Sam in front of the Nasty Burger doors. Jack and Maddie are holding up guns. The ectoplasm wave wraps around all of them and knocks them over the exposed wall. Jack and Maddie drop their guns.

Cut to the tanks. Maddie, Jack, Lancer, Tucker and Sam are all bound together and land on the tanks.

In Clockwork’s time pool, Maddie was bound here hood-up. But now, she’s hood-down.

Perhaps foreshadowing that things won’t go as they had in the “loop” before?

Cut to the swirling green cloud vortex in the sky. Dark Danny pops up onscreen with his hands up high and glowing green, thrusting his hands down with all the fingers outstretched. Five streams of ectoplasm come out, two from the middle and ring finger on the left and three from the index, middle and ring fingers on the right. Pan down.

Cut to the five, all strapped to the tanks by the ectoplasm band and screaming. The heat coil is still in contact with the tanks, and the gauge is right by Sam’s head. Streams of ectoplasm come down, hitting the mouths of the tallest two, Jack and Lancer, then Maddie, Tucker and Sam. The ectoplasm spots on their mouths silence them.

This episode is new powers galore. Ghostly Wail, self-made Ghost Portals, sleeping ectoplasm beams, changed form to younger human form, ectoplasmic ropes and gags. Looks like Dark Danny got busy with adapting to new ghost powers.

Cut to Dark Danny from the back, floating in front of the Nasty Burger with his curled fingers up, everyone else is strapped to the tanks. Jasmine slides in from the right and turns to jab a fist.

Cut to Dark Danny’s back. Jasmine plunges an arm of the peeler inside, but a hole opens up in his ghostly form around his arm.

Cut to Dark Danny with his hands up, smiling and looking behind him. Jasmine is behind him with an arm through his body. Jasmine gasps and removes her hand.

DARK DANNY: Nice try, Jazz.

Cut to Dark Danny’s body. Jasmine’s face is seen through the hole. The hole seals up and shows the DP emblem.

Cut to Dark Danny from the back.

DARK DANNY: But me?

Dark Danny turns his head around 180 degrees with a bone-crunching sound.

DARK DANNY: My future?

Cut to Dark Danny on a purple action background, from the back but his head is turned 180 degrees to see Jasmine behind him.

DARK DANNY: I’m--

His body turns 180 degrees to match his head.

DARK DANNY: --inevitable.

I remember that my InstaNet friend Joshua who went inactive a couple years back reviewed this part and said that by here, Clockwork’s time medallion was the only thing keeping Dark Danny in existence. If he didn’t have Clockwork’s medallion, he’d disappear completely because he doesn’t exist in that timeline anymore. Dennis only wishes Clockwork would do that instead of keeping him in the thermos so people wouldn’t be begging for his comeback. Maybe he did that offscreen.

You’re forgetting the whole “existence out of time” thing. Without a time medallion, people/ghosts can remain in Clockwork’s realm until Clockwork sends them back to their appropriate time period (i.e. what happened to SkulkTech). The thermos holding Dark Danny is within Clockwork’s realm at the end, allowing Dark Danny to remain there. Clockwork does not send Dark Danny back, of course, because that would cause chaos again. Unable to send Dark Danny anywhere, Clockwork must continue to guard the thermos from now on. If Dark Danny was to escape, yes, he would need a time medallion to stay in a specific time period. Without it, he’d be automatically sent back to Clockwork’s. Roughly, if Dark Danny were to ever break out it’d be an endless loop of sorts until he’s destroyed for good…if that’s possible, that is.

Cut to a shocked Jasmine in a purple action background. Zoom in on her face.

Cut to an aerial shot of Dark Danny hovering above the street and looking at Jasmine, with the Fenton RV nearby. A second Dark Danny appears to the left of Jasmine, then the right.

Cut to Jasmine. Zoom out. She looks up scared as one Dark Danny appears in front of her and two more in the back. The right-back Dark Danny puts two hands on her helmet and lifts it off, releasing Jasmine’s long hair. She wails a high-pitched shriek.

Cut to Jasmine, shrieking. Dark Danny hovers up like a cardboard cutout with his hand up in front of him, sending an ectoplasmic beam over Jasmine’s mouth. She stops shrieking when she is gagged. Dark Danny curls his fingers into a fist and puts down his hand.

Cut to Jasmine from the back surrounded by two Dark Dannies in the front and one in the back. Pan up as they all fly in the air, the two Dark Dannies on the sides merge with the center Dark Danny, who has his feet together and his arms outstretched, glowing all green.

Cut to Dark Danny. He lifts up his fists and the one in the back starts to glow green. Zoom out as he sends the blast downwards.

Cut to Jasmine on a purple action background, gagged by the ectoplasm patch on her mouth. The ectoplasm rope twirls around her and binds her tight.

Cut to the street in front of the Nasty Burger. Pan left to the other hostages, Jasmine is swung around on the rope and lands on the tanks as the left-most hostage.

Cut to Jasmine, Maddie, Jack and Lancer, bound and gagged by ectoplasm. Jasmine settles down as Dark Danny laughs offscreen.

Cut to Dark Danny’s feet. Pan up to show his hands high above him, glowing. He laughs evilly.

Cut to Dark Danny from the back.

DANNY: (offscreen) Hey, old man!

Dark Danny turns around, angry.

Cut to a swirling green vortex of clouds in the sky. Danny flies downwards from the center of the vortex with a purple backpack and a belt of gadgets. As he flies fast, the screen becomes a green action background.

DANNY: Ready for a blast from your past?!

Cut to Dark Danny hovering next to the Nasty Burger. Zoom in on his face.

Cut to a purple onomatopoeia screen with blue text reading “WHAM!, exploding with pink action backgrounds.

Cut to a purple building. Pan right as Dark Danny is knocked back over them, fading into the distance.

Cut to the six hostages at the tanks.

DANNY: (offscreen) Don’t worry.

Cut to Jack, Maddie and Jasmine in the foreground. Danny swoops in with his purple backpack on his back.

DANNY: I won’t turn into that.

Cut to Tucker and Sam.

DANNY: (off screen) *Ever*.

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: I promise.

He looks with earnestness.

Cut to Lancer, gagged by ectoplasm. He blinks.

Cut to Lancer in the foreground. Danny swoops up onscreen.

DANNY: I’m guessing this sort of explains my periodic absences, huh?

A green ectoplasmic rope comes down and curls around Danny’s waist. He looks down and hiccups in surprise as he is pulled up offscreen.

Cut to the rope. Dark Danny pulls a bound Danny up to him, Dark Danny holding his arm with the rope.

Cut to Dark Danny. He reaches offscreen and pulls Danny toward him by his shirt.

DANNY: What are you gonna do? *Waste* me?

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: What happens to *you*, then?

Cut to Dark Danny, looking down at Danny being held below him.

DARK DANNY: You don’t get it, do ya? (smiles a fanged smile) I’m still *here*! *I* still exist!

No, you don’t. By now, like I said earlier, your time medallion is the only thing keeping you around. Like in Back to the Future 2, the 2015 Biff gave the 1955 Biff the sports almanac, and in a deleted scene due to suggested violent content, didn’t exist in his future anymore because Marty’s mom shot him before Biff got to his future.

Er, right idea, wrong scene deletion, I think. I vaguely remember hearing something about Marty’s mom shooting Biff, but what really wound up happening was just like what happened to Marty in BTTF1: Changed the past, therefore the person affected is erased...painfully.

Close-up on Danny.

DARK DANNY: (offscreen) That means *you* still turn into *me*.

Cut to Dark Danny, smiling. He lifts up a glowing fist and punches the camera. The screen becomes a pink onomatopoeia screen, reading “FWAM!” in lighter pink shade.

Cut to Dark Danny and Danny over a street. Danny is knocked back, the scene pans left as he flies.

Cut to the sidewalk. Pan left as Danny rams his back into a lamppost with his hands up, grunting in pain.

Cut to the base of the lamppost with the swirly green sky. Danny falls down, nearly unconscious. His backpack flap opens, and the Ghost Gloves are revealed.

Cut to Danny behind the lamppost, tired with his eyes closed. He opens them groggily as Dark Danny floats onscreen, shrugging.

DARK DANNY: I don’t have to waste you.

Cut to the temperature gauge. It beeps rapidly and the arrow vibrates in the red skull area.

DARK DANNY: (offscreen) I just have to run out the clock--

Cut to all the hostages, bound and gagged by ectoplasm, looking worried up at the heat coil in contact with the tanks. The tanks vibrate.

DARK DANNY: (offscreen) --until your entire life--

Pan up to the tops of the tanks, vibrating, cracking and letting out puffs of smoke.

DARK DANNY: (offscreen) --falls apart.

Cut to Dark Danny with his knees bent to his chest. He flies downward with his hand out in a green action background, yelling out and his serpentine tongue flicking.

Cut to Danny with a hand on his backpack containing the Ghost Gloves. He turns himself and the backpack intangible and sinks into the ground.

Cut to the base of the lamppost, Dark Danny swoops in and cuts it, knocking it down, then swoops up and looks over it.

Cut to Dark Danny. Danny comes up from the ground intangibly below him wit the Ghost Gloves, resuming full color.

DANNY: Maybe if you’d remembered more about your family--

Cut to Danny on a purple action background.

DANNY: --you’d have--

He takes flight with his thin ghost tail as his gloves glow green.

DANNY: --remembered the--

He thrusts the glowing green Specter Deflector into the camera.

DANNY: --Specter Deflector!

Cut to a purple action background. Danny flies up with both his gloves on the belt, all glowing. He flies up to Dark Danny.

Cut to Dark Danny’s waist. Danny links the Specter Deflector on it from behind it. Zoom out. Danny removes his gloved hands, but a copy of the Ghost Gloves stay behind on the belt. Dark Danny screams in pain as white light engulfs his green-tinted body.

Another goof. Somehow, animators in Korea forgot to take Danny’s gloves off the belt, so their ghostly doubles stayed there.

Close-up on Dark Danny, screaming. His tongue is out, flicking.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Or the--

Zoom out to show Danny on a green, action background in a fighter stance with the Ghost Gloves, glowing green.

DANNY: --Ghost Gauntlets!

Ghost Gauntlets? Those are the Ghost Gloves that Jack uses as his weapon of choice. And like I said, Vlad never used that name once in his flashback. Meep!

Danny puts a hand back and turns to punch the camera. A purple onomatopoeia screen reading “BOOM!” on green with pink text is shown.

Cut to the street. Dark Danny is knocked back with his hands and legs forward, screaming as the screen pans right to an oil tanker.

Cut to the oil tanker, on its tank it reads “OIL” in black letters. Dark Danny lands on top of it, causing it to crack in two and all its tires to fall off. The tanker steams from the inside.

Cut to a smokescreen. It clears to reveal Dark Danny lying in the tank with his flaming white hair in the oil. He opens his eyes with worry and looks up at the oil.

Cut to Danny hovering over the street, looking down at the smoking, damaged oil tanker. An explosion of blue flame comes up from it.

Danny’s Ghost Gauntlets vanished from existence.

Cut to Danny, wide-eyed. His face is bathed in blue light. He is knocked back into a blue action background with a palm out and a hand over his head, screaming as two tires and other debris fly past him.

Cut to the street in blue flames. Danny lands safely in front of them.

Cut to Danny looking in the flames, seen from the back. He straightens his back, then turns around and walks off.

Cut to a screen of blue flames. Dark Danny’s head pokes through the top of it.

Cut to the blue flames with Dark Danny’s head on top of it. He walks through the wall of flame without flinching, parts of feet and hips are in flame.

I’m guessing that was just a warm-up explosion for what’s going to happen next. It’s too bad Dark Danny’s a ghost and doesn’t feel the pain of a gas explosion, because that would be a great taste of his own medicine.

Cut to Dark Danny in flames among the blue flames. He puts a hand on the Specter Deflector and takes it off, holding it up in the air. Green electricity fizzles from it.

Cut to Danny, walking away.

He turns around as Dark Danny’s blue-flaming hand grabs his arm and pulls him away.

Cut to the street. Danny lands on his back and palms. Pan up to his face, looking up in terror.

Cut to Dark Danny’s head on the upper-right corner.

DARK DANNY: Your time is up, Danny.

A second Dark Danny appears in the lower-right corner and both talk in stereo.

DARK DANNY: It’s been up--

A third Dark Danny appears on the lower-left corner and talks, too.

DARK DANNY: --for ten--

A fourth Dark Danny appears in the remaining corner.

DARK DANNY: --years.

In perfect rotational symmetry, the four Dark Dannies raise fists. Danny grunts.

Freeze frame. Cut to Danny in a white impact, his hair blown back, hurt. Zoom out and rotate to show one Dark Danny with his arm out in a fist while two others hover around and observe and the last one looks in the corner in a red screen. Their hair flames.

Freeze frame. Cut to Dark Danny in a green background with his hair flaming. Zoom out to show him kicking Danny in the face, Danny grunts. Two other Dark Dannies hover off, one with glowing hands and the other flying forward with fists.

Freeze Frame. Cut to Danny with a face of pain in a white impact. Zoom out and rotate to reveal four Dark Dannies on a purple screen sending out zappers straight to Danny’s chest, three have one zapper but one uses two, causing him to bend over.

Cut to the street. Danny lands with his hands breaking the fall of his head, grunting in pain. He has scars all over his face, and his head smolders. Dark Danny steps next to him.

Cut to Danny on the ground. Five Dark Dannies look at him and talk, merging into one.

Yes, five Dark Dannies. You might think it’s only four, but a closer look shows five, one of them cut-off and is only half onscreen.

DARK DANNY: What makes you think you can change--

Cut to Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: --my past?

Cut to Danny on his arms with a tear in the arm of his suit. Dark Danny’s leg is in the foreground. He struggles to face up.

DANNY: Because I promised (looks up) my family.

Cut to a purple action background. Dark Danny pops up with his hands up and laughs.

DARK DANNY: Ha ha ha ha ha-oh…

The screen resumes to normal as Dark Danny looks down and shrugs.

DARK DANNY: You are such a *child*.

Close-up on Dark Danny.

DARK DANNY: You “promised”?

You can say Danny is such a child. In your point of view, Danny still has the childlike innocence of good over evil and junk, while your views is to destroy everything in your path for fun because you can.

Close-up on Danny, perspiring.

DANNY: Yes! (opens his eyes) I- *PROOOOMISED*!

Zoom out. As he says that last word, a Ghostly Wail comes from his mouth. He is standing up with his chest out and his fists up. As he finishes the word, he closes his mouth but the wail still comes out.

Cut to Dark Danny, in a fighting stance but shocked. The Wail comes toward him from the left. He is blown back, panning right as he flies into the sky offscreen.

Cut to the street. Dark Danny lands and slides on the pavement, digging up a deep trench.

Cut to Dark Danny lying in the trench covered in rubble.

DARK DANNY: That (closes his eyes) *power*!

He opens his eyes and looks over his body.

DARK DANNY: Ugh! It’s not possible!

Close-up on Dark Danny, confused.

DARK DANNY: I don’t get that power until *ten* years from now!

Cut to Dark Danny lying in the rubble by a building with cracked windows. Danny lands in front of him, scuffed up.

DANNY: I guess (puts a hand on his chest) the future (looks forward to Dark Danny) isn’t as set in stone as you think it is.

Cut to Danny on a green action background. He takes his hand off his chest and put his fists in the air. The background turns to normal as a ghostly wail comes out of Danny’s mouth. Zoom out.

Well, actually, that screencap shows the Ghostly Wail originating from Danny’s left eye area, but I’ll say mouth for simplicity.

Cut to Dark Danny, wide-eyed and shocked, his irises became red pupils. The Ghostly Wail blown him away, screen pans right.

Cut to a street. The Ghostly Wail still blows, and the screen pans right as Dark Danny is blown away, windows shatter as he passes, and a giant vehicle also is blown back with him.

Cut to a tall, three-story building. Dark Danny lands in the doorway, causing debris to fly out. The door is smoking, and the vehicle Danny tossed with his Wail follows with the bottom to the camera, landing in the doorway and causing the whole building to fall in a smokescreen.

Cut to Danny still using his Wail. Parts of his suit fade away to reveal his jeans and shirt, turning him back into Danny Fenton. Danny stops using the Wail and bends down with his hands on his thighs, and blue stars pop showing he is dazed. He takes a few breaths and falls to the ground on his hands and knees.

Cut to the smoldering pile of rubble. Dark Danny’s trembling black-gloved hand comes out, and the smoldering stops as it clenches into a fist.

Close-up on Danny as dazed-stars pop. He looks up and gasps, his face covered in scratches.

DANNY: Huh?

Cut to Dark Danny’s fist in the smoldering pile. It sinks back inside, and the screen pans up as Dark Danny rises from the pile with a grunt of effort, his hands up, tears in his jumpsuit in the abdominal area and the glove, and his cape torn half-away. His flaming hair is mostly extinguished, leaving a few tiny flaming embers. He puts a hand on his chest and smolders.

DARK DANNY: Well, that’s it, isn’t it?

Close-up on Danny. His eyes are green and his hair is white, with scratches on his face. He narrows his eyes.

DANNY: Time’s up.

Cut to Danny Fenton kneeling on the ground. He takes the thermos off his utility belt and lift it forward in both hands, the blue beam generating.

Yes, mistake. Danny changed back due to an energy brownout, but he was Danny Phantom in the close-up when he says “Time’s up”. Then he changes back to Fenton again. Mistake from the color stylists, perhaps?

Cut to Dark Danny in the pile. His hand is on his chest and another on a rock. The beam takes him over, and he growls in defeat. He becomes a blue-tinted blob.

DARK DANNY: Too weak to escape!

Cut to the blob Dark Danny’s face.

DARK DANNY: And you’re too late to save them!

Cut to the blue beam. The blob of Dark Danny screams as he is passed through the beam into Danny’s thermos, Danny is kneeling on the ground. He looks down at the smoldering thermos.

Cut to the smoldering thermos. Danny caps it. Zoom out, Danny smiles. Then his eyes widen in realization.

Cut to Danny from the back. He turns around.

DANNY: Oh no!

Cut to the temperature gauge. It’s vibrating deep in the red skull area, with the tanks all red around it. The glass around the gauge begins to crack, then it completely falls apart into tiny pieces of metal.

Cut to the tops of the sauce tanks. They are all red and are puffing up smoke, and cracks form on them. Pan down to the six hostages, bound and gagged. Jasmine and Maddie exchange looks, along with Jack and Lancer, and Tucker and Sam.

Those tanks are burning hot. Why didn’t they all get second-degree burns?

Cut to Danny, mouth gaping open. He runs to the left, closer to the camera.

Cut to a street. Danny is seen running from the back, his hair is blown back. Pan left to the Nasty Burger, with the CAUTION tape and the hostages by the puff-smoking tanks.

Cut to Danny running on the street, the street a purple action background. A ring forms around his waist, but it fizzles. Danny looks down in alarm.

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: I can’t go ghost!

Cut to Danny running, tripping on some rubble and falling in slow motion, landing on the ground with his hands up, looking up.

DANNY: *NOOOOOOOOOOO*!

Cut to Jasmine, Maddie and Jack but the cracked, red tank with smoke coming from it. Pan right across Lancer, Tucker and Sam

Close-up on Danny, perspiring with panic.

Cut to an aerial shot of the Nasty Burger. Danny is lying on the ground in the street white the hostages stand near the smoldering tanks. The whole Nasty Burger erupts into a debris-flying, smoke-generating explosion.

Close-up on Danny. An explosion is reflected in his irises.

Cut to Danny on his hands and knees with rocks flying past him. He flies back, but time freezes. The shot rotates so Danny is seen from front view. Pan right. A clock hand pops out from nowhere and swirls clockwise into a blue circle. With a flash of light, the silhouette of the child Clockwork appears, resuming color as the circle vanishes.

Cut to Danny being blown back, frozen in time. Clockwork floats up to him with a time medallion, and places the medallion necklace over his shoulder as it sparkles, smiling. Danny’s head begins to sparkle.

Close-up on Danny’s sparkling head. He takes a strained breath as he opens his eyes.

Cut to Danny in the air, his head sparkling. Clockwork floats on the side, smiling. Danny grunts as he raises his hands, leans forward, looking down, then floats straight with his hands in circles as he screams and finds out he’s floating. He looks up and Clockwork and floats up.

DANNY: Clockwork?

Cut to Clockwork. He points a finger up.

Cut to Danny, confused. He turns his head to the left, and smiles wide, the screen becoming a gray action background.

Cut to Clockwork and Danny in the foreground, looking at Jasmine in the peeler armor sans helmet, Maddie, hood-down, Jack, Lancer, Tucker and Sam all standing up and sleeping, with green light glowing around them. Zoom in.

Cut to Jasmine, Maddie and Jack, their heads sparkling.

DANNY: (offscreen) You saved--

Pan right to Lancer, Tucker and Sam.

DANNY: --them?

Cut to Danny, surprised. Clockwork floats behind him.

DANNY: Uh-I-I-I (looks up behind him) don’t understand!

Of course not. This is a real turning point for Clockwork, because for a first-time viewer, Clockwork almost seemed like an anti-hero. Not a villain, but an antagonist working on the Observants’ will. This is the point where Danny’s opinion of him changes to unlikely ally or guardian.

Cut to Clockwork. He phases to adult form.

CLOCKWORK: The Observants look at time like they’re watching a parade.

Cut to Clockwork with Danny looking at him, and the six hostages floating safely in the green forcefield.

CLOCKWORK: One thing after another--

Clockwork and Danny swoop over to the left, leaving the hostages behind. Clockwork holds up his staff while Danny looks down.

CLOCKWORK: --passing by in sequence right in front of them.

Cut to an aerial shot of the Nasty Burger. Clockwork and Danny are seen hovering above it from behind. Clockwork’s arms are spread out and his tattered cloak is blowing.

CLOCKWORK: I see the parade from above.

Cut to Danny.

CLOCKWORK: (offscreen) All the twists and turns it might,--

Cut to Clockwork and Danny. Clockwork phases to an old man.

Cut to Danny, smiling. Clockwork comes to Danny; Danny rolls his eyes to him, smiling.

CLOCKWORK: --or might not, take.

Cut to Clockwork. He winks.

Dennis Dunjinman is a transcriber, and a transcriber has to look at an episode like an Observant, events passing by in sequence. Think of TurboNick as her version of Clockwork’s time pool, especially with all the green goo in it and all the events stored in its databanks. In fact, when she took the Transcriber’s Oath, it sounded like the Observant’s Oath:

“As a transcriber for the DPOF, I, Dennis Dunjinman, take an oath to watch, type as much as I can, and let nothing evade my gaze.”

However, Dennis is not an Observant, and doesn’t take it all at face value. After she transcribes an episode, she sees it from within and without, all the little nuances that make this episode the way it is and all the events adding up and making sense that casual viewers don’t understand. Meep!

Cut to Danny looking at Clockwork. Clockwork’s in the foreground.

DANNY: You knew all of this was going to happen. (smiles with discovery) All of it!

Cut to Danny and Clockwork in the air. Danny swoops forward with his hands out and one leg bent to the force field of hostages in the foreground.

DANNY: Even this part!

Cut to Danny and Clockwork.

CLOCKWORK: Everything’s the way it’s supposed to be. And here we are with you, a fourteen-year-old child--

Cut to Clockwork.

CLOCKWORK: --risking (eyes widen with joy) everything to save the people you care about.

Cut to Danny from the back, floating. He turns around and smiles.

Cut to Clockwork. He raises a hand.

CLOCKWORK: Time (presses a button on his staff) in.

Clockwork glows all green.

Cut to Clockwork and Danny in a black screen of nothing surrounded by a green forcefield. Analog clocks approach all around them and tick backwards. Clockwork and Danny become white silhouettes and the screen turns all white.

Fade to the classroom. Lancer is reading a book at his desk, Danny is standing in front of his with the booklet on it. Clockwork is floating nearby. Star is in the front row with Danny, Tucker is behind Star, Sam is behind Danny’s desk, and an African-American girl with an up-do is on the other side of Danny’s desk. Yellow text fades onscreen, CASPER HIGH-2 HOURS EARLIER”.

Mistake. Danny was in the front, but an Asian was behind him. Tucker was next to him, and miraculously, Sam was in front of Tucker. Star was in another row off the edge of the classroom. Topology in this world doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Cut to Sam taking the test with Tucker behind her and a fat kid in a blue shirt nearby. The sparkle, for they are frozen in time.

Close-up on Danny. His eyes turn to the left.

Cut to Lancer turning a page in a blue book. A fly is near, and the chalkboard reads “C.A.T. Test Today”. Sparkles pop around Lancer, frozen in time.

Cut to Danny in front of his desk with Clockwork behind it. He picks up the notebook off the desk.

Cut to Clockwork’s hand on the CAT answer booklet. He takes it offscreen.

Cut to Clockwork. He holds up the booklet.

CLOCKWORK: You’ve given everyone else in your life a second chance.

Clockwork phases to a child.

CLOCKWORK: Why not you?

Cut to Danny. He reaches offscreen and smiles, looking down at the answer booklet in both hands.

Cut to Clockwork. He swirls his staff around him and it becomes a blue circle with a hand moving counter-clockwise and swirling the circle away, then vanishing with a pop.

Cut to the clock. It says 8:55 and is sparkling. The sparkles vanish and the second hands moves and ticks again.

Danny Phantom was always bad at math in more ways than one. If Lancer told Maddie to meet him at 5:00 at the Nasty Burger, and this is two hours earlier, 17:00 – 9:00 is not 2 hours. It’s 8. Given the whole hostage taking and fight took nearly one hour, it should be nine. The clock SHOULD read somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00.

Cut to Lancer, sparkling. The sparkles vanish as a fly buzzes and he turns the page.

Cut to Sam, Tucker and the fat kid sparkling. The sparkles vanish and Tucker and Sam continue to move their pencils. Tucker and Sam look up, surprised.

If seen from an Observant’s point of view, this event would show Danny sitting down with his test, then in a flash standing up with the booklet in his hand, showing that we missed something while Clockwork put Danny in hyper-time.

Cut to Danny holding the booklet. He smiles.

Cut to Lancer with his hands on the desk.

LANCER: Mr. Fenton?

Close-up on Lancer.

LANCER: Is there a problem?

Cut to Danny from the back.

DANNY: Um… (turns around) actually, Mr. Lancer,--

He turns to the left and walks, screen panning left.

DANNY: --there is.

Cut to outside the door. Jasmine steps up with the peeler and puts her hand to the door, looking through the window.

Cut to Jasmine looking stern through the window. She gasps. Zoom out to Lancer at his desk with his hands on a red book. His apple and mug of pencils are beside him. Danny walks up with the booklet in hands.

Cut to Danny, looking down at the booklet. Lancer is in the foreground.

DANNY: I-uh--

Danny puts down the booklet and looks at Lancer.

DANNY: --found this the other day--

Cut to the desk. Danny slides the booklet up to Lancer’s hand by his red book.)

DANNY: --outside the Nasty Burger.

Cut to Lancer, looking down. He picks up the booklet.

LANCER: Hmm. The seal is broken.

Cut to Lancer in the foreground with the booklet, looking at Danny.

DANNY: Yeah, (looks off to the side) I know. (looks to Lancer) And I-I-I’m sorry. (shrugs) I couldn’t stop myself from looking at the (puts his hands down) answers.

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: But I’m not a cheater! And I never will be.

Cut to Jasmine in the window, smiling. She closes her eyes and leans her head down.

Cut to Lancer, holding the booklet. Danny is looking at him.

LANCER: Well, you’ll have the chance to prove that,--

Lancer holds his chin high and closes his eyes.

LANCER: --when you take the make-up test (looks down at Danny) next week.

Cut to Lancer, smiling.

LANCER: Now, won’t you?

Cut to a purple action background. Danny pops up.

DANNY: *Really*?

Cut to Danny looking up at Lancer. Lancer has the booklet in his hand.

LANCER: You’ll have plenty of time to study for your make-up test in detention.

That’s unfair! Danny admitted that he picked it off the ground by the Nasty Burger and was only doing what any ethical, upstanding student would do, return it. You really like handing detentions out, don’t ya?

The seal was broken, remember? No excuse for that, and Danny admitted to peeking, therefore: detention and a make-up exam. If it had been my high school, Danny would’ve been expelled. I say Lancer’s being extremely nice.

Cut to Lancer.

LANCER: But for now…

Zoom out to reveal Lancer pointing at the door with his thumb. Jasmine is looking through the window.

Cut to Jasmine. She squeals out in sudden shock and ducks away from the window.

See? She missed something in hyper-time as well. She was fully expecting to see Danny’s older self cheat rather than her actual brother returning the answers, so she still brought the Peeler.

Fade to an aerial shot of Casper High. Birds are warbling and Danny is on the stoop. Zoom in.

Fade to Danny on the stop, gazing dreamily. A door is heard opening and Jasmine steps down on the stairs.

Cut to Danny from the back.

DANNY: So… (turns and looks up) How long have you known?

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: About the test? (lowers her head and closes her eyes) For days. (turns to the left) But I’m really proud of you for not cheating.

Cut to Danny looking to the right with a hand in his pocket.

DANNY: Not that. (looks down at his pocket) Your headband,--

Pan right as Danny takes out a note with a torn blue headband.

DANNY: --your note, with your handwriting.

This text is legible, but it’s hard to read. It says something like “Danny, ih y- into li- tho w- in a seat srg, gn”, in cursive. Legible gibberish, that is. Just like Ghostwriter’s poem in TFBC.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: What? (points down and smiles weakly) That? G-huh, (shrugs and smiles, blushing) I didn’t write that. (stops blushing) And there must be (closes her eyes and smiles) dozens of headbands.

Cut to Danny, looking up with his arm out. He arches an eyebrow.

DANNY: Jazz…

Cut to Danny, holding out the note. Jasmine walks down and sits beside him, turning to take the note.

JASMINE: Since the--

Danny puts down his arm as Jasmine looks down at the note.

JASMINE: --Spectra thing.

The “Spectra thing” means MBK, when Jasmine was suspicious of Danny’s strange behavior and caught him in the act of a transformation behind a pharmacy when he thought he was alone.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: I didn’t want to tell you (looks to the left) ‘til you wanted to tell me.

Close-up on Jasmine.

JASMINE: It’s your secret.

Love the attitude. I question why she blabs to her parents in PP if this is how she feels. She could have easily covered for him by saying he had to go to the bathroom, or ventured outside to watch the ghosts turn the world intangible, or something like that. Maybe when she stopped being the “overprotective older sister” and became the “tag-along wanting a slice of the action”, she de-matured.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Well, (opens his eyes and looks right) it’s our secret now.

Cut to Danny and Jasmine. They share a hug.

Cut to another shot. Jasmine pops up.

JASMINE: Don’t think this means I’ll stop being meddling and overprotective.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: (chuckles) Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Danny’s ghost sense suddenly goes off. He looks to the left as sirens go off.

Cut to a police car. Zoom out as the sky turns red to reveal a giant green, gelatinous ghost in hot pursuit behind it, with four tentacles and four belly flaps. It roars.

Cut to Danny and Jasmine from the back, looking to the right. They turn to the left without flinching as the ghost chases the car.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: (blinking and looking to the left) Go.

Cut to Jasmine’s butt and Danny’s hand. Jasmine puts her hand on his.

Cut to Jasmine looking at Danny and Danny looking down. Danny looks to his sister. Then he blinks and looks forward with a sense of duty, running up.

Cut to Danny running in the street with his hair blown back. A ring forms around his waist and passes over him, changing him to Danny Phantom.

DANNY: Going ghost!

Cut to an aerial shot of Danny running on the sidewalk. He takes off flying past the school grounds.

Cut to the midsection of the ghost, growling. Pan up as Danny swoops in and meets him with his face and tentacles in a turquoise action background.

Cut to Danny in a turquoise action background.

DANNY: Hey! Giant, green, and gruesome!

He puts his chest forward, bends a leg and puts his arms out.

DANNY: Guess who’s back and better than ever!

Cut to the gelatinous ghost, looking down, confused. It blinks and growls with confusion.

Close-up on Danny. He leans back on a turquoise action background with a fist behind him, and thrusts it forward.

Onomatopoeia screen. On purple with a green splat in the center, the text reads “KER-SPLAT!” in green.

Cut to Jasmine, looking up with her hands on her hips as a wave of green ectoplasm comes over her, leaving her a dripping tower of ectoplasm. She lets out a sound of disgust.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: This is gonna take some getting used to.

Quick zoom out to Clockwork’s inner sanctum with that image in the time pool. Clockwork in his child form is floating there, and two Observants stand behind him with their hands together.

Cut to the Observants with Clockwork smiling in front of them, holding the Fenton Thermos.

OBSERVANT #1: You manipulated the boy. (shrugs) You influenced his choice!

Close-up on another Obsevant.

OBSERVANT #2: That’s a direct violation of the protocol or temporal displacement! In other words:

Cut to both Observants.

OBSERVANTS: You cheated!

Speaking of temporal displacement, here’s a crazed Dennis story.

When Dennis went off and began the write her fan fiction Planet Overgrown, she went over to Clockwork and told him of her plans to make Danny fail and change the ending of the event, making my story an alternate-timeline sequel. He personally didn’t care as the Master of Time, and said that if she threw her rubber pig into the time stream to write the story, then she’d have to take over as Mistress of Time in the timeline where her pig landed, because it previously didn’t exist in that time. She tossed it anyway.

Cut to Clockwork with the thermos in front of the time pool with the image of Jasmine covered in ectoplasm. The Observants float in the foreground.

CLOCKWORK: True, I cheated. (phases to an adult) But I assure you, his choice was his own.

Cut to an Observant from side view.

OBSERVANT #1: You realize the boy (raises a finger) is your responsibility now.

He puts down his hand as the other Observant comes forward behind him.

OBSERVANT #2: As is his evil self,--

Cut to Clockwork holding the thermos.

OBSERVANT #2: (offscreen) --now that he exists outside--

The thermos sparkles.

OBSERVANT #2: --of time.

Cut to Clockwork.

CLOCKWORK: I know. (lifts up the thermos to look at it) But then,--

Close-up on Clockwork.

CLOCKWORK: --I know everything.

Cut to Clockwork with the thermos and the image of Jasmine covered in ectoplasm in the time pool behind him. He floats past the Observants and turns to a door where the doorway is open with two bands of green energy with a wooden table beside it.

Cut to the table. Clockwork’s hand places the thermos on it and leaves offscreen.

Cut to the thermos. A dent forms in the right side, then the left, then farther in the right dent and the left dent, and the imprint of Dark Danny’s face forms in the front of the thermos. Dark Danny is heard laughing.

Iris out on Dark Danny’s face.
