PART TWO

WAAAUGH! TurboNick blackout! I’m blind!

You know what to do. Activate the sensors and ask another user with a Maternal Instinct recording to fill in the missing ten seconds from after the place where the commercial break should be. It’s the part where Danny’s point-of-view shows him running, panting and removing branches. Of course, without visual I cannot provide an accurate description.

11:17-11:07 on the TurboNick countdown timer.

Fade in to a running shot of the woods from Danny’s point of view. As he runs, panting, he uses his right hand to move a branch out of his way, then his left to move another, and finally both hands to split through some tall grass in his path.

Cut to Danny. He looks terrified over his right shoulder while continuing to run.

Cut to Vlad’s mutated “pets” (a bear, a bird of some kind, a ram, a moose, a deer, a raccoon (?), a wolf, and two horned creatures of unknown type), continuing their chase after Danny.

Now we’re clear. Resuming visual.

Cut to Danny in the background. He pants and keeps running down a slope past some shrubs and underbrush over a red log and into a stream where he is splashing. Zoom out as he runs off.

Cut to an area with red trees and a green ground. Danny runs in from the left. He leans a hand on a tree trunk and another on his knee, panting and sweating and catching his breath.

Cut to Danny, perspiring. Danny turns behind him to find the source of a sound.

Cut to the river. A ghostly one-eyed ram is on the slope while the four-armed bear is climbing over a red log in the bank. Zoom out as the animals run across the river and a ghostly wolf followed by a ghostly moose follows them.

Cut to Danny. He starts running, but trips offscreen as he gets a foot caught on a branch.

Cut to Danny, tumbling in the air. He lands on his stomach and hands.

Close up on Danny. He opens his eyes and gasps.

Cut to the four-armed bear running on a red action background. It roars some more. Zoom out to show the bear with a wolf and a one-eyed moose behind it in hot pursuit.

Cut to Danny lying on the ground. He gets up on his hands and knees and looks at a low-hanging branch. He strains to reach it.

Cut to the branch. Danny reaches his hand to take it, straining. Suddenly, a gloved hand camouflaged in mud grabs him by the wrist.

Cut to Danny on his knees, looking up with the hand holding him. He is swiftly carried up offscreen.

Cut to Maddie, hood-up and her suit masked in mud kneeling on a tree branch, holding the trunk and reaching down. She holds up Danny by the arm and takes out a bunch of glowing blue rope. She arches her goggles and points at Danny with the hand holding the ropes.

MADDIE: Remind me later how much (narrows her goggles) *trouble* you’re in for leaving the campsite!

Cut to Danny’s hand being held by Maddie.

DANNY: Wow.

Pan down to Danny, looking up in wonder. He smiles.

DANNY: That doesn’t hurt!

Short-circuited your powers and it doesn’t show a ghost? Obviously the ghostly energy isn’t being produced and venting off right now, so Danny stopped being registered on the ghost sensor and the belt won’t send out an anti-ecto charge.

Cut to Maddie holding up Danny and the rope. She sits Danny down on the tree branch. Then she takes the rope and looks down intently.

Cut to the ground. The four-armed bear slides in from the right and roars, leaning forward.

Cut to the bear. He tucks all his arms near and turns to the left, then looks to the right. He seems confused when a glowing blue lasso falls down around him. He turns to the rope and pulls on it with a couple claws to examine it.

Zoom out as he looks down to see the circle of rope below. It snaps the bear’s legs and sends him trapped upward.

Cut to Maddie, standing in the tree branch looking down with the rope in her grip. Danny is looking down, sitting with his hands on his knees. Danny looks up at his mother as she turns to him.

MADDIE: Be *right* back.

Danny looks down as Maddie jumps off the branch and the rope reels downward.

Cut to the rope on a red action background. The bear is in distress as it is brought up onscreen. When it is gone, Maddie is seen descending to the side pulling the rope.

Cut to part of the tree. The bear is hanging upside down and embarrassed. Zoom out to reveal it hogtied next to Danny sitting in the tree with Maddie tying the rope around the tree trunk on the ground. A crowd of other ghost animals run in from the left.

Cut to Maddie tying the rope. She turns around in a fighter’s stance.

Cut to her waist. She presses the buckle on her belt so it turns all green and processes. Zoom out as she glows green. Cracks form in the mud on her jumpsuit. They break off her with green smoke steaming off her. She then puts one leg forward and puts up her fingers in a threatening way.

MADDIE: Come on.

Close up on Maddie. She looks determined.

MADDIE: (taunting) *Dazzle* me!

Cut to the ghost animals. They include a five-eyed moose, a one-eyed elk, a four-legged bird, a one-eyed ram, a six-legged raccoon, and a four-eyed fox. The fox crouches down and growls menacingly. It roars and pounces.

Cut to Maddie in her stance. Pan left as she jumps forward, crouches down and jumps offscreen.

Cut to a tree. Maddie leaps up to grab the branch and cycles it like a gymnast, stopping in the air for a second before swinging again, zooming out to show her kicking the ghost fox away.

Cut to the branch. Maddie swings her legs up and lands on the tree with her knees bent and arms up. She leaps down into a red action background and tumbles, the shot rotating around her stopping at the front to show her descending with one knee bent and arms up and out.

Cut to the bottom of the tree. Maddie lands with her knees bent and one hand on the ground with the other out. Zoom out to show some animals around the tree behind her as an angry moose and a yak-thing step into the foreground.

Cut to Maddie. She takes out a rod from hammerspace and stands up holding it in front of her. Two glowing green rods come out of them. She twirls it above her, then lifts a leg as she twirls it on her side, holding it behind her in a fighting stance on a red action background.

*amused* I can’t believe Dennis just managed to use the term “hammerspace” in a transcript. *laughs* For those who have no idea what it is, just look it up. Odds are you’ll come across the “laws” of cartoons or anime.

Cut to Danny sitting in the tree next to the hogtied bear.

DANNY: How could she not have a *phone* in there?

We don’t know. In this day and age, every teen and adult carries a phone to stay connected 24/7. Surprisingly, Danny didn’t bring his. Dennis doesn’t own one yet because she doesn’t have anyone to call, but her parents plan on getting her one so they can keep in contact with her at all times, or call people for rides.

Cut to the one-eyed reindeer with the yak and a bear running on a red and turquoise action background.

Cut to Maddie running on a red and turquoise action background holding up the lightsaber and yelling out a battle cry.

Cut to Maddie running from the back as she approaches the crowd of animals coming for her. She continues battle crying as she raises her saber.

Cut to a red and turquoise action background. Maddie holds the saber by the green end and lands down her saber on a yak, causing it to glow green and vanish into clouds of green as the background resumes normal.

You can’t exactly call it a lightsaber if Maddie can hold the green parts with her hands safely. Lightsabers are immaterial and every side cuts.

I’ve always just referred to it as a ectoplasmic staff. *shrug*

Freeze frame. Maddie is looking down in a red action background. Zoom out and rotate to see her jumping over a cat thing with two heads, the saber bending down between the heads. It glows green and vanishes.

Freeze frame. Maddie is seen from the back on a turquoise action background. Zoom out and rotate to reveal her ambushing a three-headed beaver. The beaver glows green and vanishes.

Cut to a bird on a red action background. It caws. Zoom out and rotate to see an unmoving image of Maddie with the saber held behind her falling and battle crying as the bird glows green and vanishes.

Cut to Maddie tumbling backwards to crouch back on the tree branch. She leaps down holding up the saber and falls.

Cut to the ground. Maddie lands.

Cut to Maddie. She turns to the left and narrows her goggles.

Cut to an overhead shot of Maddie looking over her shoulder. Zoom out as she leaps in the air with her legs out in a splits position as a moose runs beneath her. She slaps the saber down on the moose, which glows green and vanishes. She lands safely.

Cut to two huge, saber-toothed one eyed rabbits with one severed ear each hopping into the shot. The crouch and growl.

Cut to Maddie pointing the saber in front of her. She stands it up next to her and puts her hand to her goggles to adjust them.

Cut to Maddie with a glove on her goggles. They open up and focus, sending out green eye lasers.

I only wish I knew how that worked.

All I know is that the next time those goggles with that ability appear again is in the Gameboy Advance game for TUE as a power up item. Never ever see them (at least, not used) other than this episode and the game ever again.

Cut to the two stunned rabbits with wide eyes. The laser blasts the rabbit on the left, then the one on the right. They vanish.

Cut to three more animals jumping into a shot. They are a four-armed raccoon, a five-eyed rat, and the badger with the one purple eye on the eyestalk. They stop as the green pole of the saber is thrust at them.

Zoom out to reveal Maddie pointing the stick.

Close-up on Maddie.

MADDIE: (smiling) Boo!

Cut to Maddie looking at the three ghosts. They scream and run away. Pan right as Maddie turns around and points upwards.

MADDIE: Now, young man--

Cut to Danny hugging the trunk of the tree. He spins onto the other side and gleefully slides down it.

MADDIE: (offscreen) --do you mind telling me--

Cut to Maddie standing by the tree with the saber standing next to her as Danny slides down the trunk. Maddie raises a palm

MADDIE: --what you were doing?

Danny walks up to Maddie to hug her.

DANNY: You… are…--

Cut to Maddie holding the saber as Danny gleefully hugs her arm.

DANNY: --*awesome*!

Maddie gasps and smiles. She’s flattered.

MADDIE: *Honey*!

She closes her eyes and leans her head on his.

MADDIE: Thank you!

Cut to Maddie’s boot with the pole of the saber. There is a hole next to her. A tiny, one-eyed rat thing comes out of the hole and waves its arms.

TINY GHOST: I will destroy you!

Maddie puts her stick into the hole and green sparks fly off.

Jenny’s Killgore in a Danny Phantom form. Sweet!

Cut to Maddie looking down to the side as Danny continues to hug her arm. Maddie turns to Danny.

MADDIE: But we better--

She crouches down, Danny looks uneasy.

MADDIE: --start moving in case those--

She turns to her saber and the rods retract inside it.

MADDIE: --those ghosts come back.

Maddie runs off.

DANNY: Uh…

He looks up to the back, then starts running to follow her.

DANNY: Wait for me!

Fade to a full moon in the purple sky. Zoom out and rotate to the woods. Maddie is carrying Danny on her back in piggy-back style, Danny looking up and around.

DANNY: I- uh, I-I-I think we gave--

Maddie looks to the side.

DANNY: --those ghost animals (turns to Maddie) the slip.

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: Uh, (looks up to the side) shouldn’t we figure out a way to call (looks forward) Dad?

Cut to Maddie with Danny clinging to her back.

MADDIE: As much as I hate to say this, (turns to Danny) I think we should go back to (looks with disgust) *Vlad’s*.

Cut to Maddie looking at Danny. Danny jumps off her back and tries to plead his case.

DANNY: But he’s my arch enemy!

He puts down his hands, trying to save himself.

DANNY: I mean--

After just one battle prior? Clearly two battles and a shared half-ghost existence go a long way.

True, one battle prior…with Plasmius himself. Vlad’s responsible for a lot of Danny’s early ghost encounters, remember. As Danny knows about this, it’s only natural Danny calls Vlad his arch enemy even after only one battle with him.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: --he (looks down to think of something) said all those (raises his arms out) horrible things about Dad!

Cut to Maddie, hands on her hips. She looks annoyed.

MADDIE: We both know he’s a creep. (points up a finger) But he’s a creep with a phone and transportation.

She gleefully holds out a palm.

MADDIE: And pancakes!

Hungry much?

Cut to Maddie and Danny. Maddie takes off her belt.

MADDIE: Here, put this on.

Danny looks down in shock and yelps as Maddie straps it on him and clasps it.

Cut to Danny’s waist. Maddie’s hands are on the belt. She removes them and uses a key to lock it. It beeps.

Cut to Maddie, getting up. She holds up the key.

MADDIE: I know it’s *girly*, but it’s for your (turns around and walks off) own protection.

I wonder what made her want to put that on Danny. After all, not only was she there, but Danny says they gave the ghost animals the slip. Maddie must suspect Vlad.

Or she’s just very protective of Danny. She doesn’t know that he can hold his own against ghosts, but knows she can. She has a bunch of weaponry on her, Danny does not. It only makes sense Maddie put the belt on Danny. This won’t be the first time Maddie is very protective of Danny either; an excellent example is when she leaps out of FentonWorks armed with axes to save Danny on Christmas Eve in TFBC.

Pan down to the right. Danny looks shocked. He looks down at the belt.

DANNY: Great. (stares forward wide-eyed) At midnight I get my powers back. (grabs the belt) At 12:01 the belt zaps me--

Cut to Danny, looking down.

DANNY: --and at 12:02 (looks up, alarmed) Vlad tries to make out with my mom!

Danny looks disgusted.

DANNY: Those are gonna be the worst two minutes of my life.

A little ingenuity would make that situation avoidable. And Maddie’s smart, she’ll avoid it, too.

Fade to Jasmine’s reflection in a mirror. She is wearing a blue jumpsuit like Maddie’s, her hand behind her head. She tucks all her hair away when she pulls over the hood.

Pan left to show Jasmine looking in the mirror, past her to a full closet of Maddie’s jumpsuits on hangers.

Cut to the doorway. Jack walks in with a green rope on his shoulder and a bazooka on the other.

JACK: Jazz, honey, I--

Cut to Jasmine looking at herself in the mirror. She turns left suddenly.

JACK: (offscreen) --Maddie!

Close up on Jack, smiling. The bazooka is behind him.

JACK: You’re home!

Zoom out to show the lab with Jack holding a container with a loop of green rope out of it and a bazooka over his shoulder. Jasmine looks at him, seen from the back.

JASMINE: Dad, it’s me.

Cut to Jasmine, shrugging.

JASMINE: Jazz?

Cut to Jack, incredulous.

JACK: Jazz?

He puts down the bazooka and smiles proudly.

JACK: Why look at ya, (lifts his hands in front of him) you’re the spitting image of your mother!

He tears up and sniffs.

JACK: I knew this day would come.

Cut to Jack standing in front of Jasmine with the bazooka and rope on the floor.

JACK: And that’s why (points up a finger) years ago--

Pan right as he runs past Jasmine to the closet. Jasmine turns to him as he fishes through the closet

JACK: --I had this made for you.

Cut to Jack. He turns around and holds up an orange jumpsuit like his, only a mite smaller. Zoom out to show Jasmine from behind.

Close-up on Jasmine. She points a finger and smiles, amused.

JASMINE: *Nice*.

Cut to Jack, smiling goofily. He looks down at the jumpsuit, a little humiliated.

JACK: Um, sorry about the size, I’d thought you’d be swimming in my end of the gene pool.

Close up on Jack.

JACK: The end that’s filled with (smiles) ranch dressing, (looks up, dreaming) melted cheese (looks forward) and fudge. (looks content) Lots of fudge.

I’m fairly sure you didn’t have to make a jumpsuit like yours for Jasmine. If she really wanted to try ghost hunting, which she will later on, she’d ask for suits of her own. Danny has his own, the white one that was destroyed in the accident. What color would hers be? I’m opting for Navy because it’s the opposite of white and would have the same black belt/collar/boots design, possibly the belt too.

Cut to Jasmine with her hands on her hips. She looks at Jack.

JASMINE: Look,--

She holds out a palm as Jack looks confused.

JASMINE: --this is just a sociological experiment.

She looks up at Jack and shrugs.

JASMINE: I figure I owe it to myself to experience all this ghost stuff--

She puts a hand on her hip and points up a finger.

JASMINE: --one time--

Close up on Jasmine.

JASMINE: --so I can hate it in a more informed context.

Cut to a confused Jack.

JACK: I don’t know what you’re saying, sweetheart, (perks up) but I do know that--

Jack holds up a fist, proud and determined.

JACK: --ghost fighting is in your blood.

Cut to Jack and Jasmine. Jack retains his pose, but looks self-conscious when Jasmine spreads her hands in refusal.

JASMINE: No way!

She looks mad and points a finger at Jack.

JASMINE: I am not like you and Mom!

She turns around defiantly with her arms crossed. Jack holds the suit in his hands.

JASMINE: I am a brilliant, reasonable--

Cut to Jasmine, looking defiant.

JASMINE: --sophisticated girl.

Jack leans into the shot and points a finger at her.

JACK: In a blue HAZMAT suit.

Jack tucks his fist back as Jasmine points up a finger.

JASMINE: In a blue--

She clenches her fists, mad.

JASMINE: --*Yaah*!

Cut to Jack from the back. Jasmine turns around to him.

JASMINE: Quit messing with me! (holds up a finger) No more talk about ghost fighting, okay?

Jasmine drops her arms and Jack turns around in shock as the lab turns purple.

Cut to a wall with some dials and meters. A four-eyed wolf sticks its head through the wall and roars. A one-eyed ram follows suit next to the wolf.

Pan right. A bear sticks its head out through the back wall, along with a moose. A cougar sticks its head through the rightmost wall and roars.

Cut to Jack holding the orange jumpsuit with Jasmine peeking her head out behind him. Jack leans to the right and looks to Jasmine, Jasmine looks to Jack.

JACK: No talk,--

He puts the suit aside and whips out a finger.

JACK: --*action*!

Jack runs off leaving Jasmine in a fighter’s stance.

Cut to Jack, picking up the bazooka and the rope. The bazooka is heard charging. He tosses it.

Cut to Jasmine looking to the left on a purple action background. She grabs the bazooka. Zoom out as she points it to the right and fires it, then turns to the right and shoots it a few times more, green energy coming out of it each time.

Cut to a roaring cougar phasing and stepping out of the wall. With one green blast, it vanishes.

Pan left to the one-eyed ram. It walks out of the wall, but is also blasted and vanishes.

Cut to another wall. Jack stands up onscreen holding a pole with his thumb on a button. He presses it. An extension draws out from the top and turns into a spinning helicopter-like blade.

Cut to Jasmine by the wall holding the bazooka. Jack jumps in from the right onto the left side of her. He thrusts the spinning blade back behind him. Both he and his daughter smile and exchange glances.

Cut to a pink action background. Jack and Jasmine pop up onscreen, yelling battle cries at the top of their lungs. Zoom out to show them running on a purple ground with the spinning blade and the bazooka.

Fade back to the lodge. The full moon is overhead. Rotate right to show Danny and Maddie walking on the path to the lodge.

Cut to the path. Danny brings his hand into the shot, looking at the digital watch on his wrist. The LED reads 11:50 in blue numbers.

DANNY: Oh great, ten to twelve!

Cut to Danny looking at his watch and walking while his mom walks next to him.

DANNY: Are you sure (looks to Maddie) you wanna do this?

Cut to Maddie.

MADDIE: Danny, (turns right downward, chiding him) if we’re going to get out of here, we need Vlad’s *help*!

Pan right to Danny, looking up. He looks forward.

Pan left to Maddie’s hips. The white belt key with a green stripe is on her waist. Zoom in on it.

Cut to the door. Danny runs in front of his mother as she walks up and holds up his hands to stop her.

DANNY: But before you go in there and--

He brings down his hand and wakes out his arms.

DANNY: --flirt our way out of here,--

Cut to Danny, looking desperate. Zoom in on him.

DANNY: --I just want to say…

Cut to Maddie and Danny. Danny brings out his arms gleefully and hugs his mother, one leg in the air. Maddie looks down at him, happy.

DANNY: *I love you*!

Cut to Danny. He opens his eyes, looking down. Pan down to the key on Maddie’s hip. Danny takes it and tucks it away.

Cut to Danny hugging Maddie. Maddie wraps her arms around Danny’s neck in return, he looks up at her with a cheesy smile as he hides the key behind his back.

MADDIE: I love you too…

She pushes Danny aside and walks away, making Danny look a little scared.

MADDIE: *Clingy*!

Danny holds the key behind his back and looks warily forward.

Close up on the door. Maddie’s fist knocks.

Cut to Maddie and Danny from the back standing in front of the door. The doors open a little revealing Vlad with an expression of “What do you want?”. Zoom out as he opens the doors wide and looks positively happy to see the Fentons.

VLAD: Maddie! (looks at Danny) Daniel!

Vlad bends down with a fist out with joy.

VLAD: You’ve returned to me!

Cut to Danny, looking at Vlad with a tired-but-nasty look. Vlad looks at his watch and covers his arm with his hand.

VLAD: Ooh, and not a moment--

He glares at Danny, Danny’s eyes pop open, frightened.

VLAD: --too soon!

Cut to Vlad, crouching down with an evil expression with Danny looking at him blankly and Maddie looking at him with a smile.

MADDIE: Danny?

Vlad stands up as Maddie points with her thumb over her shoulder.

MADDIE: Go somewhere else--

Close up on Maddie, looking sultry.

MADDIE: --while the adults talk.

Cut to Vlad, looking evilly satisfied. His eyes pop in surprise, confused.

Cut to a bored-looking Vlad looking at a sultry Maddie. Danny looks up at his mom.

DANNY: Oh, sure.

Both Vlad and Danny look more cheerful.

DANNY: You and Vlad get cozy.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: If you need me,--

He looks up and points a thumb over his shoulder.

DANNY: --I’ll be over there.

He turns to the right and holds up the key, looking to the left, tired, disgusted and annoyed.

DANNY: Barfing.

Danny walks off.

Fade to inside the lodge. The fire is burning. Maddie and Vlad are on a red sofa. Maddie has her hands in her lap, Vlad has his hands in his lap and is sitting cross-legged.

VLAD: Maddie,--

Zoom in slowly.

VLAD: --you must be *exhausted*.

Cut to Vlad.

VLAD: Carrying the weight of that--

He turns to the left, looking with intent.

VLAD: --mistake you made (widens his eyes) years ago.

Cut to Maddie, looking to the right.

MADDIE: We all make mistakes, Vlad.

She puts a hand on her chest to look cute and sultry.

MADDIE: Maybe I’ll make one now.

Her eyes pop open in shock.

Cut to a smiling Vlad. He takes out a spray bottle of blue breath spray, opens his mouth wide and takes a couple sprays, smiling a wicked smile.

Cut to Maddie looking uneasy with the hand on her chest. Vlad looks to her like he wants to take her like a prize. He leans in to kiss her, but she just cringes away. Then she points a finger away from Vlad, pushing up his face to make him look idiotic with wide eyes and pursed lips.

MADDIE: Ah bup bup!

Cut to Maddie. She leans away, putting a hand on her chest.

MADDIE: I couldn’t *possibly*!

She lifts her hand in a “but of course” way, bringing them down.

MADDIE: I’ve been in the woods all night.

Cut to a confused Vlad making a monkey-faced expression. Maddie comes up and looks at him in a sultry way.

MADDIE: I have to freshen up.

In other words, she is making up a story to use the bathroom. I don’t think Maddie would mind defecating outside in the woods, but I know “freshen up” from the Star Wars neologism for bathroom being “refresher”. They use that word even when referring to bushes on non-urbanized planets.

Cut to Maddie, straightening up away from the confused Vlad. Her eyes pop in shock and worry as she walks off. Vlad turns to the right, clenching his fists hopefully.

VLAD: I shall await!

Close up on Vlad.

VLAD: With bated breath!

Cut to Danny, leaning against the wall by a door, not amused with his arms crossed. Maddie walks up to him, warily looking behind her.

MADDIE: Keep old bait-breath entertained (leans towards Danny) until I can find a phone!

Maddie leaves through the door. Danny smiles with relief.

DANNY: Mom is gone.

Close-up on a devious Danny. He looks forward and down.

DANNY: Which means…

Cut to the belt on Danny’s waist. Zoom out. Danny grabs the belt and puts the key in the hole. He turns the key and takes the belt off, letting it hang in his hand as it powers down.

Pan up to Danny.

DANNY: Time to spend a little (looks up deviously) quality time with--

Cut to Vlad. He takes a book that is titled “ROMANCE for RICH CREEPY DIMWITS” and reads it.

Have you suggested taking up a hobby? Then you can share your hobby with other people! And maybe meet a few females that can make Maddie look like chopped liver. It’s not like you have a future together, anyway.

DANNY: --Uncle Vlad.

Cut to Danny, holding the belt and looking at the grandfather clock.

DANNY: But first…

He turns to the clock, holding up a finger to adjust the hands.

Cut to the clock with Danny’s hands on the hands. The minute hand is on the 11, but he turns it back to the 9 and removes his hand.

Cut to Vlad with a finger to his lip as he reads. He looks warily to the right.

DANNY: (offscreen) Hey, um--

Zoom out to reveal a smiling Danny with his hands behind his back.

DANNY: --Uncle Vlad?

Vlad removes his finger from his lip and closes his eyes.

VLAD: Oh, please, Daniel.

Close up on Vlad, looking annoyed.

VLAD: Don’t try to (widens his eyes for emphasis) butter me up.

He looks up a little, the bags under his eyes showing.

VLAD: Especially with your powers shorted out--

Cut to the grandfather clock, reading 11:45.

VLAD: --for another fifteen minutes.

I cannot believe Vlad is that thick. Danny says it was ten to twelve earlier, and Vlad checked his watch to confirm it. Now it clearly says it is five minutes before that, and Vlad spend quite some time with Maddie on the sofa. I guess time turns backwards with a pretty lady.

Cut to Vlad, looking smug.

VLAD: You’re barely a threat to me (raises a palm) with *them*. (puts his hand aside) Without them…

Cut to a smiling Danny, lowering his eyelids. Vlad chuckles.

Close up on Vlad.

VLAD: Well I wouldn’t need (his eyes blaze an aggressive red) 15 *seconds*, would I?

Ooh, the scary eyes! *eye lasers zap Vlad*

Cut to Danny, shrugging.

DANNY: How can you say that?

Danny puts his hands on his chest.

DANNY: You think my mom made the decision to come back on her own?

He giggles a little, but resumes sympathetic pose, then spreads his arm out.

DANNY: We’re a family! (his arm bends up a bit) We both talked about it last night--

Cut to Danny, leaning back into the shot with his arms crossed.

DANNY: --and I want to stay here with you, too.

Liar. Your mom DID make the decision to come back on her own, but not for the reason Vlad suspects. You opposed her, but reluctantly agreed.

The other thing I want to say? What last night? Landing here, finding Vlad, leaving, setting up camp, fighting ghosts and coming back only took one day.

Cut to Vlad. A tear leaks from his eye.

VLAD: Really?

Vlad’s response from BR seems to be coming true. “You and your mother will join me by choice”. He must really be happy, provided his means were sinister but his motives and demeanor were happy and loving in this episode.

Shame Danny’s gonna rid Vlad of his happy mood in about two seconds.

Cut to Vlad holding the book and looking at Danny. He puts down the book, stands up and points at Danny.

VLAD: You don’t…mean--

Cut to Danny. He leans in a little.

DANNY: Yes.

Danny balls his hands into fists cheerfully.

DANNY: I do.

He leans back with his hands out.

DANNY: Come on!

He wiggles his fingers.

DANNY: Gimme a big hug,--

He leans forward turning to the right with his arms out for showmanship.

DANNY: --new Dad!

Now THAT’S using your head, and your natural acting ability. You’ve got to do this more often. Maybe take a role in a school play, Lancer would love it.

Cut to Vlad with his hands clasps together by his mouth, cheerful. Pan right as Vlad closes his eyes and spreads his arms out to hug Danny, but Danny has the Specter Deflector tucked in the back of his pants. He reaches behind his back and takes it.

Cut to Vlad’s waist. Danny puts the belt on. It charges up.

Cut to Vlad, smiling. He looks down with sudden realization.

Cut to the belt. It fizzles green sparks as Vlad yells in annoyed disappointment. Zoom out as Vlad looks down at it, shocked. He grabs the belt and looks nasty.

VLAD: You little *rat*! You tricked me!

Cut to Vlad.

VLAD: You know what this will mean for you, (one eyebrow lowers) don’t you?

Cut to Danny, looking at his watch.

DANNY: Oh yeah.

Cut to Danny’s watch. It reads 11:59. It changes to 12:00.

Cut to Danny standing, looking at Vlad with the shocking belt in the foreground. With a flash of light, a ring forms around Danny and transforms him into Danny Phantom.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: A much fairer--

Danny arches his eyebrows in competition.

DANNY: --*fight*!

Close-up on Vlad. Zoom out as he turns around in a hot pink action background. The background changes to normal but in hot pick with Vlad crouching with one knee bent upward, a flash of black light forming a black ring around him changing him into Vlad Plasmius with the cape waving.

Cut to Vlad with his hands up, growling and roaring. The belt is still sparking. Suddenly, he clenches his fists and bends backwards in pain.

Cut to a corner of the lodge. He lands on the ground, holding his head while a green smoldering trail comes out of his back.

I toyed with this idea in “Project Spectrescream”. See, the germs infesting Danny would make him feel sick because he was human most of the time and there was an incubation period. When he transformed after one week of not needing to, the germs changed from working slowly to full-blast and sent him convulsing until he passed out and had to be carried home for medical attention.

Close up on Vlad. He looks up wide-eyed and stunned.

Cut to Danny from the front with his ghostly tail in a magenta action background. He approaches the camera fast.

Cut to a shocked Vlad. Danny flies in hand headbutts him.

Cut to a fireplace with the fire burning. Over it is a portrait of Vlad Masters wearing a bathrobe holding a pipe in his mouth. Vlad is rammed head first into it, leaving exposed bricks where it was when the smoke clears. Danny flies up to survey it.

Vlad Masters with a pipe? Vlad doesn’t smoke! Maybe it’s a pipe that blows bubbles. Brad had one in some episode of Teenage Robot.

I wonder…maybe the pipe has nothing in it. What if he pretends to use it to cover up his Ghost Sense? (Err…assuming he has one. I can’t remember off the top of my head if we ever see Vlad use the power.)

Cut to a long corridor. There are three lamps on the ceiling. Three doors are on the left side, two are on the right and a desk with a drawer and a mirror are next to them. Maddie, seen from the back, runs down it and looks to the second door on the left.

MADDIE: No phone…

She turns to the second door on the right and takes the doorknob.

Holy Roman! Maddie looks in the second door on the right. In BR, Vlad says his lab is “second door on the right (upstairs).”

Huh. Nice catch.

Cut to inside. By the door is a panel with four switches. A yellow SUV is visible. Maddie opens the door and peeks inside. Pan right to the armored yellow SUV with the trendy white SUV next to it.

Cut to an annoyed Maddie in the doorway.

MADDIE: No phone!

She runs off.

Cut to Danny holding his leg out and his fists back on a red action background.

Cut to a hot pink wall. Vlad phases through it and resumes full color while the belt is still shocking. He covers his body with the cape and turns intangible.

Zoom out. Danny, intangible, yells a battle cry as he has his leg out to kick Vlad, only to phase through him and the wall.

Cut to a darkened room with a pair of yellow ATVs. Maddie opens the door and the room lights up. Zoom out to show the two ATVs.

MADDIE: (whispering, annoyed) No phone!

She runs off. Danny phases through the right wall horizontal with his leg still out, yelling as he phases out through the left wall.

Cut to Vlad. He looks down at the belt and grabs it, growling and adjusting it, trying to take it off. He straightens upward and strains.

Cut to Vlad’s legs floating above the ground. Danny up through the floor.

Cut to Vlad from behind. Danny floats upward behind him and resumes full color, but Vlad turns around and holds out his palm to shoot out an ice-blue ghost ray at him. Danny yells in pain as he flies off. Vlad then puts a hand to the belt, straining.

Cut to Danny being Flung back. Zoom out to the top of the fireplace. The exposed bricks are still there. Danny slams to the wall with the front of his body first and upside down, grunting in pain of the impact. The screen shakes.

Cut to Danny in a place with exposed bricks. He peels off the wall and falls with several crumbling bricks.

Cut to the fireplace. The fire is burning. Danny lands on his back on the ground with an “oof!”

Close up on Vlad.

VLAD: Foolish boy!

He arches an eyebrow with a wicked smile.

VLAD: Even with diminished strength, (looks dramatically evil) I’m still more powerful than you!

Cut to Vlad in the room with the sofa and the clock in the background. He strains as two Vlads stretch out from either side of him, only to slam back together into a two-headed Vlad. Vlad looks forward in surprise.

Cut to one head.

VLAD: Huh?

Pan right to the other head.

VLAD: Whuh?

Zoom out to both heads. They look at each other and talk at the same time in stereo.

VLAD: I can’t duplicate my form!

Then your previous statement was erroneous. With diminished strength, Danny is just as powerful as you, one body and an extra head. You’re just more experienced, which is going for you. But Danny’s been practicing hard like a good little ghost boy.

Cut to Danny, confused.

DANNY: Geez, I don’t know which head to hit. (smiles smugly) So! I’ll have to hit ‘em both!

He grunts with effort as he takes flight.

Cut to the ceiling of the lodge. Danny flies up and swoops down with two fists out in a hot pink action background.

DANNY: At a hundred and twelve miles per hour, I bet this hurts!

Cut to Danny’s point of view with two fists in front. Vlad is on the floor with two heads, zoom in on him quickly as Danny closes in. Vlad’s mouths gape in shock. A white flash of light fills the screen.

Cut to a door. Maddie opens it. Zoom out quickly to reveal her on the roof with three purple shields over the door, and a giant helicopter o the landing pad reads “DALV” on the engine and has a D in a laurel reef on the door.

MADDIE: (sardonically) Helicopter, but no phone.

Cut to Maddie.

MADDIE: And Danny thinks *I’m* a nut.

It’s true. Vlad is a nut. And over the series he does progressively nuttier things, stealing the Skeleton Key, unlocking Pariah Dark and stealing the Ring of Rage, using Jasmine against Danny in combat, extorting medical care from the Fentons, making unstable clones, self-electing himself mayor, stealing the InfiMap (more than once), freeing and unleashing a dangerous weather ghost, endorsing urban sprawl… this list just goes on and on like this. I’m sure when he goes on trial he’s really getting it soon.

Freeze Frame. Danny is on a pick background with both hands out sending a green ghost ray. Zoom out and rotate to show Vlad being knocked in the chest with it in the foreground.

Freeze Frame. Cut to Vlad’s body in pain with Danny’s boot on the belt on a blue background. Zoom out and rotate to show Vlad in pain while Danny kicks him.

If Danny’s foot was a little lower, a number of people would be yelling “PWNED!” and concerned, overzealous parents would call for censorship. And a coloring goof, the belt is black now to match Vlad, it is not white.

Freeze Frame. Danny is on a purple background uppercutting. Zoom out and rotate to reveal Vlad being punched, gritting his teeth and both his hands out.

Cut to a wall between two orange windows. Vlad backs away, slowly and weakly. Danny walks up with him.

Close up on Danny. He blows some air out of his mouth.

Cut to Danny and Vlad, Danny is blowing air from his lips. Vlad falls over backwards. Danny looks down, smiling.

Cut to Vlad, sprawled out from the floor.

VLAD: Fine, Danny!

Vlad tucks his hand in and his head gets up.

VLAD: You’ve defeated me, but you’ve forgotten (smiles wickedly) my pets!

Vlad puts some fingers in his mouth and whistles.

Cut to an aerial shot of Danny from the back looking at Vlad on the floor. Ghost animals of all shapes and sizes phase up through the floor and surround them, roaring. They resume full color from transparency.

Close up on Vlad with some ghost animals behind him. Zoom in and rotate.

VLAD: Finish him!

Cut to a front view of Vlad on the floor surrounded by animals on both sides. The animals close in on the camera.

Cut to a confused Danny.

DANNY: Finish me? Huh, (shrugs) Why are you mad at me?

He puts a hand on his hip smugly and points backwards with his thumb.

DANNY: I’m not the one who turned your pelts into (eyes widen for emphasis) wall art.

Cut to a trophy of a light brown-gray bear’s head. Zoom out to reveal a wall with an orange puma, a raccoon, a beaver, a rabbit, and a moose head.

Cut to Vlad looking at his animals. His animals look angry. They all roar and turn to him. Vlad turns to the left. Pan left to see more angry animals looking at him.

Another goof! Vlad has black pupils on his red eyes in this shot.

Cut to Vlad sitting with his back to the fire. Animals look at him from all around.

VLAD: Don’t even think (stands up) about it, you spectral freaks!

I don’t know why, but when he says that line I think of Vice Principal Crubbs from Ned. It’s the way he says it.

Cut to Vlad. He leans down a little.

VLAD: I’m still more powerful than you!

Danny’s hand comes in from the right with the Plasmius Maximus. It shocks Vlad, turning him white and green. He screams in pain as bolts fill the screen and his skeleton flashes. Rings pass over him to change him back to Vlad Masters. Danny removes his hands as Vlad slumps over, his sleeves with tears and his skin with burns.

Cut to Danny, gleefully holding the device. It sparks a little, but stops.

DANNY: And now, you’re not!

Cut to a tired Vlad. He looks at Danny as Danny leans into the shot sardonically.

DANNY: I’ll give you a five minute head start, Plasmius.

Vlad perks up.

VLAD: Really?

Danny’s eyes wander a little.

DANNY: Minutes, seconds.

Vlad looks in annoyed defeat again as Danny flashes a wicked smile.

DANNY: You know how bad I can be at math.

Cut to Danny with the animals behind him. He leans back and points a finger forward.

DANNY: *Get him*!

Cut to the open door outside the lodge. Vlad screams as he runs out with the crowd of animals in hot pursuit. Pan left as Vlad runs off.

Cut to the two lanterns by the entrance. Vlad, from the back, runs out and screams. Five animals all follow him.

Cut to the stoop. Danny steps out, happy.

Cut to Danny in the lodge. He blinks to the audience and changes back into Danny Fenton. He looks back.

Pan right to an arched doorway. Maddie steps through it, shrugging.

MADDIE: What happened to Vlad?

Cut to Danny from the back.

DANNY: He…--

Danny turns around with a sweet expression, pointing over his shoulder with his thumb.

DANNY: --ran out for a bite.

Riiiiight. Vlad is such a nut that he didn’t put a refrigerator in his lodge, either. *cackles*

Danny puts down his arm, concerned.

DANNY: How’re we getting out of here?

Cut to Maddie. She sighs and shrugs.

MADDIE: I don’t know.

She puts a hand on her hip and looks to the right.

MADDIE: I can’t find a phone,--

Maddie looks to the left and points fingers on her hand.

MADDIE: --and there wasn’t one in the cars, or the ATVs, (turns to the right and shrugs) or in the helicopter!

She pops with realization, then facepalms incomprehensibly realizing her mistake.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Maybe we could just take--

He smiles and points a thumb over his shoulder.

DANNY: --the copter?

Close up on Maddie with a hand on her head. She smiles.

Cut to a pink sky with the moon still up. The helicopter is flying.

MADDIE: (offscreen) Now sweetie, we’re not gonna mention any of this to your father, right?

Cut to Maddie and Danny in the cockpit. Maddie is at the controls, Danny is sipping a soda through a straw with a red and white striped cup.

I’m guessing Maddie and Danny went out for a bite before they took off, too.

Most likely. Especially since Danny didn’t eat anything earlier when Maddie offered him some Fenton Jerky.

MADDIE: He’d be insanely jealous--

She turns to Danny, concerned.

MADDIE: --if he found out, so,--

Danny stops sipping as Maddie points up a finger.

MADDIE: --mum’s the word.

Maddie goes back to the controls.

DANNY: Actually, I think--

He looks to his mother.

DANNY: --*Mom’s* the word.

Close up on Maddie. She smiles.

Cut to Danny, looking to the left.

DANNY: Sorry I was such a jerk.

He smiles with some regret.

DANNY: I really had a good time!

I’m glad you admit that, Danny. Later on, you start acting more and more like a jerk and don’t ever realize it nor apologize for it.

I blame a switch of writers.

Cut to Danny looking at Maddie with a cheesy smile. He offers the soda cup.

DANNY: Backwash?

Maddie puts a hand to her chest.

MADDIE: Oh, *Danny*!

Cut to Maddie.

MADDIE: That is so sweet!

Fade to a street corner. Rings of rushing air appear on the ground as the helicopter lands. Zoom out to reveal FentonWorks.

I’m sure some neighbors will protest more about the wacky Fentons now. Are you going to put that in an airport soon?

Cut to Jack looking in the window.

JACK: Quick, Jazz!

Jack turns around suddenly.

JACK: They’re back!

Cut to Jack by the window looking to Jasmine. Jasmine is in the jumpsuit, hood-down and holding a trash bag, a red dustpan and a broom.

JACK: Remember:--

He turns to Jasmine and holds up a finger sternly.

JACK: --Not a word of what went on here.

JASMINE: My lips are sealed.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: And as long as the house is ghost-free,--

She smiles as if covering up a crime.

JASMINE: --they’ll *never* know!

Jasmine walks off.

Cut to Jasmine from the back. She turns around.

JASMINE: Oh, and Dad? (smiles) Thanks.

Jasmine walks off again.

Cut to Jack. He smiles. Then he looks to the left, determined.

Cut to Jack. He turns to the back, then leaps up into the air, landing on the sofa with some cross-stitch on it. Jack hangs his arms behind the sofa until he pops with realization, getting up to take the cross-stitch.

Cut to Jack. He holds up the cross-stitch with a smile, it has a smiling green ghost with the word “GHOSTS” on it and a small heart. A green thread is in the needle.

Cut to the door. Maddie and Danny walk through it, Maddie has a handbag and Danny with two red suitcases. They look to the left.

Cut to Jack, holding up the needle.

JACK: Hey, hey, look who’s back!

He puts it down and turns to the right.

JACK: How was your weekend?

MADDIE: (sighs) Boring. Ho Hum. Snore.

DANNY: (simultaneously) Duh. Dry. Totally dull.

They exchange weird glances. Danny then looks forward.

DANNY: I gotta go call Tucker and Sam.

He turns to his mother.

DANNY: But, um…

Cut to Maddie. Danny kisses her on the cheek.

DANNY: You know.

Cut to Danny and Maddie. Danny leans back as Maddie puts a hand on her cheek, smiling.

Cut to Danny and Maddie by the open door with Jack holding a glass on the couch. Maddie walks off. Danny turns to Jack.

DANNY: So, how was your weekend?

Cut to Jack.

JACK: Oh, you know. Same old.

Cut to Danny, relieved.

DANNY: Well, I guess everything’s back to normal, then.

It wasn’t normal to begin with?

Zoom out. Danny turns to the stairs as Jasmine in the jumpsuit rides down them on a three headed beaver.

JASMINE: Get out of my house--

Pan left as Danny looks to the door as Jasmine rides out through it.

JASMINE: --you *freak*!

Danny looks incredulous as Jasmine gleefully pops her head through the door.

JASMINE: Hi, Danny!

She goes away.

Cut to Danny. Zoom out as he looks to Jack, who has a hand by his mouth and is holding a cup of white liquid.

JACK: Hey, wait for me! It’s my turn!

Danny looks uneasy as Jack reaches out his arms and gives him the cup. Danny grits his teeth in fear as Jack crouches down and holds up the spinning blade. Jack runs off and Danny steps to the side. He turns to look at what’s happening as Jack shouts and curses indistinctly.

Cut to Danny. He holds out to cup which is bubbling like seltzer and looks at it.

JACK: (offscreen) That’s gonna leave a mark.

He takes a drink, but pops his eyes open in realization, putting down the cup and spitting it all out in a spit take. He looks at the cup uneasily.

DANNY: Ugh, (arches his eyebrows) gross!

Danny looks to the audience.

DANNY: Backwash!

You drink the first thing handed to you from your dad and don’t think that he might have drunk from it first? What goes through your head?

If he’s intangible, a lot. *bad joke*

Iris out.
